"So where are you taking it?" Signature Entertainment in the UK has revealed a new trailer for an Italian indie film titled A Tiger's Journey. This is the final UK title for the film originally known as The Tiger's Nest, or originally Il ragazzo e la tigre in Italian. It was shot in Nepal and Bhutan, despite being an Italian production made by an Italian filmmaker. It's described as a "live-action fantasy adventure film set in the tropical forests of Himalayas." When a tiger cub falls prey to ruthless poachers, he soon finds himself on the way to market until a young boy steps in and rescues him. Forming a remarkable bond, this boy and tiger must face impossible odds and a race against time. A heart-warming tale of love, friendship and the journey home. The "tiger's nest" he keeps referring to is a famous monastery in Bhutan called Tiger's Nest.

Chippa (Netflix)
Starring Sunny Pawar, Chandan Roy Sanyal
Written and Directed by Safdar Rahman
Very few of our films cast children in the main role. It is a pleasure to see little Sunny Pawar who stole the show from Dev Patel in Lion, roaring again in a small film with a big heart.
In Chippa again, young Sunny Pawar is lost in Kolkata. This time the city of joy doesn’t look as irradiant as it did in Lion. The frames are palely lit and the narrative’s texture has a drab feel to it. Also, Sunny playing a street urchin named Chippa meets only kind-hearted people on the deserted night streets Kolkata.
A ten-year old boy roaming all alone in Kolkata all night? One trembles at the thought, but writer-director Safdar Rahman is an optimist. He lets his little hero loose in a Kolkata filled with football-playing, drinking, reminiscing Kolkatanas of every age.

For those of you who remember little Sunny Pawar in the 2016 film "Lion" (he played Dev Patel's younger on-screen self), the young actor is back with another magnificent act in "Chippa", a watchable effort that inexplicably comes with zero hype. For a quick reckoner, "Chippa" is a small film that went to a few big festivals before landing up in a tiny, inconspicuous corner of the ever-burgeoning Ott space.

In the eyes of a child, the world is still defined by its innocence. Even though reality may have found a way to leave its first marks on one’s life, there seems to be an attitude in your early years without prejudice and fear. At least in the eyes of Indian director Safdar Rahman, this is the kind of quality he was looking for when he was casting his debut feature “Chippa” which will be screened at Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles 2019.
Shot in only 17 days, the story Rahman admits may not be unique, but offers an interesting view on the city of Kolkata. At the same time, the location offers the blend of realism and fantasy the story demands. Playing the central character of Chippa, we see actor Sunny Pawar who is known...

Indian actress Tabu (“The Namesake”) will kick off the 17th edition of the Indian Film Festival Los Angeles in April with “Andhadhun,” directed by Sriram Raghavan.
Running April 11-14 at the Regal L.A. Live, Iffla will open with a tribute to mono-monikered Tabu and a moderated discussion along with a screening of her latest film. The opening and closing night films and galas will be held at Ahrya Fine Arts Theater in Beverly Hills.
Tabu plays an actress caught disposing of her husband’s body in front of a pianist, who may or may not be blind in the black comedy “Andhadhun.”
“We have discussed honoring Tabu for a long time, and this year felt like the right time,” said Christina Marouda, Iffla’s executive director. “Her work and personality embody everything that Iffla is about — being fearless, versatile, independent in spirit, unwilling to compromise, brilliant in the range of her performances,...

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association threw a curveball on Monday when it placed “Vox Lux” star Natalie Portman in the Best Film Drama Actress field for the Golden Globes instead of Neon’s requested supporting designation. Before the news, Portman was in eighth place in our Best Supporting Actress odds, with 10 people calling a win for her. The stacked lead field will be tougher for Portman to crack, but she’s already shot into the top 10 in our predictions.
Portman is currently in 10th place, with 100/1 odds, trailing Glenn Close (“The Wife”), Lady Gaga (“A Star Is Born”), Melissa McCarthy (“Can You Ever Forgive Me?”), Viola Davis (“Widows”), Yalitza Aparicio (“Roma”), Nicole Kidman (“Destroyer”), Julia Roberts (“Ben Is Back”), Saoirse Ronan (“Mary Queen of Scots”) and Toni Collette (“Hereditary”). Nicole Kidman, one of the most honored actresses currently working in both film and television, has returned to the nation’s movie screens in Joel Edgerton‘s “Boy Erased.” She plays the loving wife of an Arkansas minister (Russell Crowe) who both decide to ship their teenage son Jared (Lucas Hedges) off to a gay conversion center when they discover Jared’s sexual orientation.
If all of the awards buzz surrounding Kidman’s performance in “Boy Erased” comes to fruition, it will only add to her haul in awards nominations. To date, Kidman has been nominated for four Academy Awards (including a win for 2002’s “The Hours”), has earned 10 Golden Globe film nominations and has been nominated for seven Screen Actors Guild Awards for movies. Plus she just had an awards sweep at the Emmys, Globes and SAG for her TV work on “Big Little Lies.”

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of film critics two questions and publishes the results on Monday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best film in theaters right now?”, can be found at the end of this post.)
This week’s question: In honor of Greta Gerwig’s “Lady Bird,” what is the best coming-of-age movie ever made?
Siddhant Adlakha (@SidizenKane), Birth.Movies.Death.
While it may not fit the western paradigm of a traditional coming of age film (neither a high school setting nor teenage angst or confusion find themselves the focus), “Lion” holds the distinction of being a rare modern movie that gets to the root of key questions of dual identity, questions that will only become more prominent in the age of globalism. It’s the most extreme version of having your feet in two cultures; Saroo Brierley (Sunny Pawar, Dev Patel) finds himself...

Dear Board of Governors and members of the Academy,
Let’s face it!
Actors are the face of Oscar. Every year, I’m struck by how many more worthy performances there are than films. We often find more problems in movies we like — plot points not resolved, length issues — than we do with performances, which are more consistently flawless.
In other words, great performances are in more abundance than great films.
So why should the number of acting nominees be limited to five, rather than up to ten, as the maximum current Best Picture rules allow? I propose increasing the number of acting nominees in all four categories, to be selected by the Entire membership, with the number of acting nominations equaling the number of Best Picture nominees.
All of the many Academy members I canvassed, including members of the Acting branch, Oscar-winners and former Governors, agreed with this proposal.

Sunny Pawar is extraordinary as a child lost abroad in the heartbreaking Lion, while Mel Gibson typically makes a bloody mess of Hacksaw Ridge

Dev Patel and his Hotel Mumbai costar Tilda Cobham-Hervey kicked those dating rumors into high gear when they were spotted holding hands in La on Tuesday. The duo was accompanied by Dev's mom, Anita, and were all smiles as they made their way down the street. At one point, Dev even wrapped his arms around both his mom and Tilda. Dev and Tilda are costarring in the upcoming American-Australian thriller based on the 2008 Mumbai attacks at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in India. His casual outing comes hot on the heels of his Oscars appearance on Sunday. Despite not taking home any awards, Dev still seemed to have a blast at the ceremony with his mom and Lion costar Sunny Pawar.

Image Source: Getty / Kevork Djansezian Few people were having as much of a good time on the Oscars red carpet than Chrissy Teigen. In addition to flaunting her goals-worthy relationship with husband John Legend, the Twitter queen also finally met her celebrity crush Sunny Pawar. Apparently all the excitement tired her out, though. Once the show got going, there was a cut-away shot to Meryl Streep sitting in the audience, and although most eyes were on the 20-time Oscar nominee, something was up with a certain Sports Illustrated model in the background. The moment happened during Casey Affleck's acceptance speech for best actor, and it sure looks like Chrissy is taking a nap on John's shoulder. If we were constantly shutting down social media trolls, whipping up delicious meals, hanging with our adorable daughter, and tired of all these unfair wins in 2017, we'd probably want to take a quick snooze,...

The 2017 Oscars have turned into quite a delicious affair.
After Jimmy Kimmel dropped Red Vines and Junior Mints upon the Oscars audience, he later enlisted in the help of 8-year-old Lion star Sunny Pawar to command more candy down to the stars—but this time it was Lemonheads and Mike and Ikes.
Shortly thereafter, there was—you guessed it—another special delivery, this time filled with something “more substantial:” cookies and doughnuts. (Honestly, the velocity of those cookies seemed pretty aggressive.)

Host Jimmy Kimmel followed in the footsteps of predecessors like Ellen DeGeneres and Chris Rock, bestowing treats upon the star-studded audience. An hour into the ceremony, Kimmel asked: “How are you guys holding up? Are you hungry?”
“This is a show about the movies and you really can’t have movies without candy. It’s un-American really,” he continued. “Close your eyes and wish very hard.” And, like magic, white parachutes descended from above, carrying bags filled with Red Vines and Junior Mints. “Don’t hurt each other.
