Jamila Woods has shared her new album, Water Made Us, via Jagjaguwar. Stream it via Apple Music or Spotify below.
The title of Water Made Us references Toni Morrison, who once said, “All water has a perfect memory and is forever trying to get back to where it was.” The album maintains Woods’ interest in Black feminism, but, as a result of being written in the midst of quarantine, is more self-reflective than her past works.
“Water Made Us feels like the most personal and vulnerable piece of art I’ve ever made. I love creating from source material, diving deep into a subject and extrapolating from what I discover,” Woods said in a statement. “We sat in the house for two years and I became my own source material. Shout out to the therapists, the astrologers, the family members and friends who listened, who helped me process and transform...

Vic Mensa performed a pair of songs from his upcoming EP, I Tape, with Wyclef Jean and Peter CottonTale on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert Thursday, February 25th.
The performance was staged in a large warehouse space and began with Mensa and Jean performing “Shelter” while they and a group of men wearing prison uniforms and hoods lay on the ground. Over the course of the performance, the men slowly sat up, and when Mensa switched over to the fiery “Fr33dom” everyone had risen and coalesced into a euphoric mosh pit.

Exclusive: Stephen Colbert will host a live edition of The Late Show following Joe Biden’s inauguration as President.
The CBS show will go live at 11:35pm on Wednesday January 20 following the day’s events.
It marks the latest live show for the late-night series, which, as a result of the current political atmosphere and civil unrest, has been going live more than it has done in recent years. It marks The Late Show’s 42nd live broadcast since Colbert took over in 2015.
Last week, Colbert went live “unexpectedly” following the chaos in the Capitol when a mob attacked the seat of power, saying that January 6 was a “horrifying” day that would go down in U.S. history.
Joining the live show are Pod Save America hosts Jon Lovett, Jon Favreau and Tommy Vietor, who previously worked for President Barack Obama. There will also be a special musical performance by Peter CottonTale,...
