As an expert in talent from Latin America, Barajas will focus on ushering in new diverse voices and building out crossover opportunities for the agency’s existing comedic roster. WME comedy talent includes Kevin Hart, John Mulaney, Jerrod Carmichael, Bill Burr, and Amy Schumer.
Barajas recently exited from Netflix where he served as an executive growing the comedy space in Latin America across standup, sketch, and comedy series.
While at the streamer, he oversaw a slate that included client series such as Diego Luna’s Todo Va A Estar Bien, Alazraki Film’s Guerra de Vecinos, and Carolina Rivera’s upcoming project Contra Las Cuerdas.
On the standup front, Barajas pointed specials for comedians such as Tom Segura and George López in the US and on the international level with Whindersson Nunes in Brazil and Franco Escamilla in Mexico.

The 2020 YouTube Streamy Awards honored the best of online entertainment Saturday night with its virtual ceremony. While the annual ceremony seeks to honor accomplishments in the realm of digital entertainment, Hollywood’s own Will Smith received a prize in the crossover category.

“Saturday Night Live” cast member Leslie Jones is the latest comedian to headline a stand-up special for Netflix.
Jones made the announcement during Friday’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on ABC. The special will stream on Netflix sometime in 2020 and be produced by Jesse Collins Entertainment.

Variety has announced this year’s 10 Latinxs to Watch, and has also selected the Miami Film Festival as a partner for the annual celebration of promising talent in the Latino community that will include a panel and film screenings.
This year’s honorees are Isabela Moner (“Dora the Explorer”), Rosa Salazar, Lila Avilés (producer/writer/director of “The Chambermaid”), Lali Esposito, Gigi Saul Guerrero (actress/director/writer of “La Quinceañera”), Marcel Ruiz, Jayro Bustamante, Daniel Zovatto, Whindersson Nunes, and Augusto Aguilera (“The Predator”).
