When Game of Thrones wrapped up its run after eight seasons, it seemed it had ruined any chance of a spinoff due to the poor fan reaction to the final season.
House of the Dragon, a prequel charting the downfall of the Targaryen dynasty, premiered in 2022 and delivered plenty of fantasy drama to reignite interest in the franchise.
The Targaryen storyline is interesting because we didn’t meet many of them on the original series due to them being dead.
House of the Dragon Season 1 successfully established the conflicts between the Greens and the Blacks to prepare for the mother of all battles on House of the Dragon Season 2.
With new episodes fast approaching, it’s time to delve into everything we know about the next chapter.
Get all the details below.

Moreover, fans are excited to see how Lady Baela Targaryen’s story will expand in the new one, as despite having less screen time in the first season, she did succeed in leaving a lasting impact.
Although many were reasonably left impressed by Bethany Antonia’s portrayal of the character, a vocal minority online was upset following the diversity presented in the Targaryen/Velaryon clan. But Antonia didn’t let the trolls bring her down and came out as gay in response to one racist rant.

House of the Dragon season two dropped dueling trailers Thursday, prompting fans to choose between the black trailer, focusing on Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy), or the green one, which puts Alicent (Olivia Cooke) at the forefront.
Rhaenyra’s trailer focuses on her, Prince Daemon (Matt Smith) and their Dragonstone forces, while the green puts King Landing’s team of Alicent, Otto (Rhys Ifans) and her children — King Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney) and Prince Aemond (Ewan Mitchell) — at the forefront. This season of the Emmy-nominated show will begin the Targaryen’s civil war, also known as the Dance of the Dragons.

The purpose is to allow viewers to easily choose between the two warring sides of the Targaryen family.
New episodes of the eight-part season get underway on Sunday, June 16, at 9/8c on HBO and Max.
Let’s delve into the two trailers because each makes a compelling case for being Team Black and Team Green.

The councils are at war. If you pledge your loyalty to the Black Council, you can watch the Black Trailer. If you are a supporter of the Green Council, you can view the Green Trailer. Or if you’re just in excited anticipation of the new season of the Game of Thrones series, you can watch them both. HBO has just released two trailers, by way of Deadline, that tell of the upcoming civil conflict for the control of The Iron Throne. In October of 2022, the first season of House of the Dragon left audiences with a sense of impending war as Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen found herself laced with rage and coming to a decision to battle for the throne. The second season suffered some delay due to last year’s dual union strikes, but wait no more. The Green and Black trailers showcase this season’s story from the...

“House of the Dragon” is asking viewers to pick a side in Season 2: Rhaenyra’s black faction or Alicent’s green team?
HBO dropped two unique trailers Thursday for Season 2, which premieres on June 16. One trailer focuses on Rhaenrya, Prince Daemon and their forces on Dragonstone, and the other is centered on the King’s Landing team of Alicent, her father Otto and her children King Aegon and Prince Aemond. Taking place 200 years before the events of “Game of Thrones,” Season 2 of “House of the Dragon” will officially mark the start of the Dance of the Dragons, the Targaryen civil war.
In the wake of the Season 1 finale, in which Aemond murders Rhaenyra’s son Lucerys and his dragon, war is imminent in Westeros. The blacks and the greens are both gathering their forces, dragons and new allies to face off in a bloody, fiery battle to the death.

Hallmark Channel is capping off a month of original films themed around Jane Austen’s works with the premiere of a new feature-length adaptation of Sense and Sensibility. The classic story about whether young women should choose husbands based on romantic notions of love or practicality has been adapted for both television and film several times before. Many fans may remember either the 1995 film adaptation directed by Ang Lee or the 2008 BBC and PBS television miniseries starring Dominic Cooper and Charity Wakefield.
This Sense and Sensibility stands out from the other recent period adaptations of Austen’s works, however, as it’s produced by Hallmark’s Mahogany brand, which is devoted to producing original films and series with Black screenwriters, actors, directors, and other creatives. Unlike Netflix’s 2022 Persuasion adaptation, which used the controversial strategy of “color-blind casting,” Hallmark’s Sense and Sensibility deliberately sought out Black actors for principal and supporting roles.

Apparently still hard at work on the sixth “Song of Ice and Fire” novel “The Winds of Winter,” George R.R. Martin took to his blog to recap his recent trip to London, which included meeting his book publisher, the team behind his Westeros-set stage adaptation and the writers of “House of the Dragon,” who screened the first two episodes of Season 2 for the “Game of Thrones” author.

HBO’s House of the Dragon season two teaser trailer opens with Otto Hightower admitting errors were made immediately following King Viserys’ death. The kingdom’s being torn apart by conflict between those who support the Greens and those who stand with the Blacks. And Alicent Hightower warns, “The war will be fought, many will die, and the victor will eventually ascend the throne.”
“There is no war so hateful to the gods as a war between kin, and no war so bloody as a war between dragons,” says Rhaenys Targaryen. That pronouncement is followed by scenes of battle, and fighting between the mythological beasts.
HBO’s first look at the much-anticipated second season was accompanied by photos, two posters, and the announcement of new cast members Clinton Liberty as Addam of Hull, Jamie Kenna as Ser Alfred Broome, Kieran Bew as Hugh, Tom Bennett as Ulf, Tom Taylor as Lord Cregan Stark,...

With so many shows being delayed, House of the Dragon Season 2 is still on track for a summer 2024 launch on HBO.
It's nice to know when to expect the hit Game of Thrones spinoff's return because many shows are in the air at this stage.
HBO gave viewers their first close-up of the second chapter at the Ccxp fan event in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Saturday.
As expected, plenty of blood-filled encounters, dragons, and some vengeance are thrown in for good measure.
After House of the Dragon Season 1 concluded with Lucerys being knocked out of the sky by Vhagar.
What was supposed to send a message by frightening Lucerys became something much more sinister when Vhagar took control of the situation and killed Rhaenyra's son.
The promo picks up with Rhaenyra at Storm's End, and let's just say she does not look thrilled.

“House of the Dragon” Season 2 will premiere in “early summer” 2024 on HBO, network chief Casey Bloys announced during a press event in New York on Thursday. At the media presentation, the first trailer for the second season screened exclusively for reporters, but details about the contents of the footage were kept under an embargo.
During a Q&a portion of the event, Bloys said he expects that “Game of Thrones” spinoff “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight” will begin shooting next spring, pending the end of the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
Based on author George R.R. Martin’s “Game of Thrones” book “Fire & Blood,” “House of the Dragon” follows the Targaryen dynasty in the fictional continent of Westeros. George R.R. Martin has confirmed the rumors are true:
House of the Dragon Season 2 is still in production despite the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
Most TV shows have been grounded amid the dual strikes, but the HBO epic can continue filming due to the cast not being under contract with SAG-AFTRA for the lengthy shoot.
In a new update on his website, the author of the Game of Thrones novels revealed that work on the sophomore season is "half done."
"One of the few shows still shooting is House of the Dragon, as you may have read. That's true. I am told the second season is half done," he wrote.
"All of the scripts had been finished months before the WGA strike began."
"No writing has been done since, to the best of my knowledge."
Martin shed some light on why the series has been able to continue filming.

Filming on Season 2 of “House of the Dragon” will continue in the U.K. despite the U.S. writers’ strike.
A source close to production tells Variety that scripts on the hit show have been done for some time, and that filming on the second season won’t be affected.
The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers ended contract talks with the Writers Guild of America on Monday night, hours before the contract expiration deadline. The WGA responded by calling for a strike to begin on Tuesday.
Under strike rules, WGA members working internationally must down tools on any project that falls within the union’s jurisdiction if there’s active writing work taking place. As such, a number of U.S. projects filming in the U.K. could be affected by the strike — it’s just a matter of how extensively such a disruption will impact the production overall.

“House of the Dragon” looks set to continue the trend that its predecessor, “Game of Thrones,” set with a slew of its stellar cast contending for Emmys. Currently, we are predicting three of the ongoing cast of this HBO hit — Emma D’Arcy, Paddy Considine, and Matt Smith — to reap Emmy bids for their performances. They will contend in lead drama actress, lead drama actor and supporting drama actor respectively.

"Game of Thrones" prequel series "House of the Dragon" became one of the buzziest TV events since, well, "Game of Thrones" when it aired in the second half of 2022. "House of the Dragon" was so successful, in fact, that HBO officially renewed the series for a second season after just one episode of the first installment aired on Aug. 21, 2022.
Though fans are expecting a long wait for season two, the good news is HBO announced on April 11 that production has officially begun! "'House of the Dragon' has returned. We are thrilled to be shooting again with members of our original family as well as new talents on both sides of the camera," cocreator and showrunner Ryan Condal previously said in a press statement. "All your favorite characters will soon be conspiring at the council tables, marching with their armies, and riding their dragons into battle. We can't wait...

The second season of “House of the Dragon” began filming in April 2023, with an expected premiere date of Summer 2024. The award-winning TV series is based on George R.R. Martin’s novel “Fire & Blood” and is set approximately 200 years before the events of parent series “Game of Thrones.” While the first season told the story of House Targaryen over the span of several decades and thus incorporated several time jumps, the second season will reportedly take place fully in one time period (which means no more confusing cast changes).
Returning series regulars from Season 1 include Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno and Rhys Ifans. Also back are recurring cast members Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall and Matthew Needham.
