Joseph DeAngelis-Conlin is an American screenwriter, director, producer and founder of Anaretic Degree Films based in New York City. In his teenage years, Joseph was an accomplished musician that lead him to move to Los Angeles to study music in his early twenties. He soon after enrolled at the Art Institute in Santa Monica to further his studies in filmmaking, which is what inspired him to begin screenwriting. Moving back to New York City, Joseph continued his studies in filmmaking as well as enrolling at HB Studio for their actors training program and playwriting classes. In 2016, Joseph already acting in various underground theatre productions and primarily writing plays, he produced, wrote and starred in his first two short films, all which were accepted at numerous film festivals globally. Taking a break from the industry in 2018 due to a medical diagnosis, as well as dealing with a family tragedy, he focused more on other creative pursuits, primarily painting, where he showcased many works in New York City galleries with much praise. It was during this time additionally, he took solace in studying philosophy and psychology, purely for the sake of enhancing his creative and mental capacities. In 2021, he resumed his creative endeavors and founded Anaretic Degree Films with the intent of producing primarily feature films. Anaretic Degree is an auteur film company, focused on cinema that shines lights intensely upon the human condition and questions around the nature of reality.
