In a plot twist worthy of applause, the Off-Broadway parody musical adaptation of “The Office” has found its Michael Scott—and her name is Sarah Mackenzie Baron. Why the actor, who hails from Los Angeles, nabbed the role is simple: she gave the best audition. “Because Dunder Mifflin firmly believes in Diversity Day, all genders, ages, and races were considered for the role,” producers for the show said in a statement. “Baron is just the Regional Manager we’ve been looking for to run Scranton’s 3rd largest paper company.” Playing the role made iconic onscreen by Steve Carell, Baron is grateful to be stepping into the slacks of the paper plant boss. “This is a role of a lifetime,” she said. “I’m overwhelmed with gratitude to be making my debut as Michael Scott.” The musical, which begins performances at the Jerry Orbach Theater Sept. 20, comes courtesy of...
