This Star Wars: The Mandalorian article contains spoilers.
The Mandalorian may have unleashed its most Star Wars-y story ever with “The Spies,” an episode that features Mandos vs. Imperial stormtroopers with jetpacks, several references to Legends canon, and yet another tease for Grand Admiral Thrawn. It also features the single best Grogu gag of the entire season with the arrival of Ig-12 and his “yes” and “no” buttons. The episode is everything you could possibly want from a Star Wars adventure and then some. Plus, some very serious stakes are introduced ahead of the finale.
All the way through, we’re also treated to plenty of easter eggs, references, and callbacks to the wider Star Wars galaxy. Here are the ones that caught our attention…

This post contains spoilers for "The Mandalorian" Chapter 23 - "The Spies."
There were some suspiciously familiar characters in today's episode of "The Mandalorian," and for fans of the entirety of the "Star Wars" saga and all of its various media, it was a revelation that provides significant context about where this universe is heading. One character in particular ties into the legacy of the sequel trilogy and lays the groundwork for the Stormtrooper program that will produce Finn — known then as Fn-2187. That character is Commandant Hux, who appears in Moff Gideon's Shadow Council of the Imperial Remnant, played by Brian Gleeson.
You may recognize Brian Gleeson as the brother of General Hux actor Domnhall Gleeson, and this is no accident; his character is actually Hux's father, Brendol. Even the name Brendol is a nod to the real-life father of Domnhall and Brian Gleeson: "The Banshees of Inisherin" star Brendan Gleeson.

Written by Delilah S. Dawson | Art by Francesco Gaston | Published by Idw Publishing | Format: Paperback, 96pp
Sci-fi comics can be delightful things. I’m a big fan of the genre and so the concept of Star Pig appealed to me right away. A teenage strong female lead named Vess who goes on a space adventure with a giant water-bear with a retro nostalgia kick emanating from Vess’s Discman. Ahhh, I had a Discman. Used to listen to it on the bus. It jumped every few seconds. Ugh.
Written by Delilah S. Dawson with artwork from Francesco Gaston, Star Pig is both the tale of adventuring and a tale of friendship, a friendship that is pretty darned unlikely. There’s a real warmth to the rapport between the characters and it builds the story so well, giving more than just a run-of-the-mill space-adventure. Gaston’s wonderfully vibrant and beautiful illustrative...

DC Comics' Black Label continues to put out excellent material for mature audiences, and we have two of those titles in today's Comics Corner. In Joker: Killer Smile #2, Dr. Ben Arnell learns that he should have left his work... at work. Secondly, in Wonder Woman: Dead Earth #1, the mythos of the Amazons and sci-fi collide. Also in today's Comics Corner: Angel #8, The Low, Low Woods #1 from DC and Joe Hill's comic outfit Hill House Comics, and Wellington #1.
Joker: Killer Smile #2: "(W) Jeff Lemire (A/CA) Andrea Sorrentino
DC Black Label - Prestige Plus Format - Approx. 8.5" x 10.875"
Ben Arnell promised his wife and child one thing: even though he spends his days attempting to reach the bottom of The Joker's insanity, he would never bring that madness home. No matter how dark the work gets, he would never allow The Joker's craziness to tear their family apart.

Tales From The Crypt, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Natural News, and more in today's daily Link Tank!
The title of Star Wars: Episode IX may be referring to Darth Vader.
"The Rise of Skywalker might be the most confusing Star Wars title ever. Does it refer to Luke Skywalker? His nephew Kylo Ren? Rey, somehow? The Emperor? Or maybe an entirely new class of Force users that aren’t Jedi or Sith? All options seem possible, but a new Episode IX theory reminds us that we’re forgetting one extremely important Skywalker: Anakin."
Read more at Inverse.
Here are the Star Wars characters that we want to see at Galaxy's Edge.

This past week finally saw the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland, California, a theme park expansion that immerses visitors in the fictional reality of the space saga. And since the region’s lore is canon to the franchise, the attraction may offer a few hints on what to expect from the upcoming Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
The Disneyland expansion takes us to the planet Batuu between the events of The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker. As you likely recall, Rian Johnson’s 2017 film left the Resistance in a pretty desperate state, whittled down to cripplingly low numbers. According to the backstory of Galaxy’s Edge, however, the rebels journey to Batuu with the hope of finding new allies and resources.

After more than six years of work, creative teams from Walt Disney Imagineering and Lucasfilm are getting ready to unveil the planet they’ve been building.
Batuu, a remote trading outpost that will include a full-size Millennium Falcon, is the setting for Disney theme park attraction Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, a 14-acre world that opens on May 31 in Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif., and on Aug. 29 in Disney World’s Hollywood Studios in Bay Lake, Fla.
Disney’s Imagineers used elements from past “Star Wars” films and collaborated with writing teams from upcoming movies, Disney Plus streaming series “The Mandalorian” and the dozens of “Star Wars” books to create an elaborately interwoven world that can evolve with the franchise.
“The beauty of this place is you’re
not here in a specific moment or time frame,” says Chris Beatty, executive creative director of Walt Disney Imagineering, who points out that...

For those of you who are excited about Disney opening up Star Wars: Galaxy Edge this summer at Disneyland and Disney World and are interested in diving into the story of it, there’s a tie-in novel coming out called Galaxy’s Edge: Black Spire.
The novel comes from Delilah S. Dawson, and StarWars.com has released some new information on what the story will entail. That story involved the resistance’s discovery of the planet Batuu, which is the setting of the theme park attraction.
Here’s the official synopsis that was released;
After devastating losses at the hands of the First Order, General Leia Organa has dispatched her agents across the galaxy in search of allies, sanctuary, and firepower—and her top spy, Vi Moradi, may have just found all three, on a secluded world at the galaxy’s edge.
A planet of lush forests, precarious mountains, and towering,...

Disney and Lucasfilm are billing Star Wars: Episode IX as the finale of the Skywalker saga. The pitch is that it’ll finally bring to end the story that chronologically began in The Phantom Menace, showing us the lives of Anakin Skywalker and his children Luke and Leia. Their stories are the backbones of the entire Star Wars saga, with the characters’ decisions and actions having shaped the course of the universe. Now, it seems like Disney’s going to be putting the entire tale into an interesting new novel simply titled The Skywalker Saga.
It’s going to be written by New York Times bestselling author Delilah S. Dawson, most notable for her novel Star Wars: Phasma, which fleshed out a character that the movies didn’t devote too much time to. In a statement announcing the news, Dawson explained the book thusly:
