Pinocchio is entering the Poohniverse.
The frequently adapted children’s story is set to become the latest standalone film introduced into the extremely bloody and gory world of “Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey,” the IP-bludgeoning microbudget slasher that that sparked headlines for turning A. Variety has the details of “Pinocchio: Unstrung,” which is selling in Cannes via Premiere Entertainment. Like “Blood and Honey,” Rhys Frake-Waterfield will direct the film, which which have little reliance on VFX and feature the character of Pinocchio as a practical doll (casting for Geppetto will soon be announced). Todd Masters at MastersFx (creator of Chucky in the 2019 “Child’s Play”) will be taking the lead in all animatronics and puppetry, while the Prosthetics Studio (whose credits include films in the “Harry Potter” and “Star Wars” franchises), will be handling much of the practical gore. Review: Founded in 1934, the Hammer film production company became very popular when it started releasing horror films in the mid-1950s. From that point through the early ‘70s, Hammer was one of the biggest names in horror… but then they found it hard to compete with the big horror films of the late ‘60s and early ‘70s, and things gradually fell apart for them. In 1979, the company went into liquidation. Attempts to revive the Hammer brand began in 2008, and we’ve seen some notable releases from the company in recent years: Let Me In, The Resident, The Woman in Black, and The Lodge among them.

Producers Rhys Frake-Waterfield and Scott Jeffrey are building a cinematic universe out of horror movies based on public domain family friendly stories – including Peter Pan: Neverland Nightmare, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, that film’s sequel… and Bambi: The Reckoning, which is inspired by Felix Salten’s 1923 novel Bambi, a Life in the Woods. The Bambi horror film is set to start filming on January 6, 2024 in England, and Bloody Disgusting hears that the film is going to be directed by Dan Allen, whose previous credits include Mummy Reborn, It Came from Below, and the 2017 version of Unhinged. Roxanne McKee (Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines) leads the cast and is joined by Nicola Wright (Firenado), Tom Mulheron (Casualty), and Samira Mighty (Beauty and the Beast).

I was a big fan of 2021’s Medusa, aka Medusa: Queen of Serpents, mainly down to the brilliant performance from Megan Purvis in the lead role of Carly and Sarah T.Cohen as her friend… and the fact the film was unlike anything producer Scott Jeffrey had been involved with at the time. For Medusa was a topical drama, wrapped up in the skin (pun intended) of a horror film; like the best of the genre the film was much more than skin deep (pun intended again), offering a layered tale about how women are treated in society. The film was all the more remarkable as it felt like one of the smallest productions Jeffrey and co. had put together.

What’s that? Sarah T. Cohen, Amber Doig-Thorne And May Kelly all starring together in another Scott Jeffrey production? Colour me intrigued… This trio are three of the best performers Jeffrey has “discovered” over the years and they’re all together in one film. Ok, Ok, so it’s a film written by Craig McLearie, who hasn’t exactly captured the magic of 2021’s Jagged Edge/Proportion Productions era with his scripts, but one can but hope right?
Let’s get this out of the way first, Alien Invasion is Such an on-the-nose title. Like seriously, you couldn’t have come up with something a little more subtle? But then when your production company has made films with titles like Snake Hotel...

We’re back in Jagged Edge Productions territory with Snake Hotel, which stars Scott Jeffrey regular Danielle Scott as one of a group of women given a chance to get out of prison early if… if… they agree to take part in a game of cat and mouse with a giant mutated snake. A snake!

With a title like Freddy’s Fridays, it’s obvious this was meant to cash in on the release of Five Nights at Freddy’s. And with the length of time that film took to actually get made both of the other knockoffs, The Banana Splits Movie and Willy’s Wonderland ended up preceding it to release, so Freddy’s Fridays has the mockbuster slot all to itself.
Todd is bringing an escort named Anastasia home. She doesn’t seem overly concerned when he brings her not to his apartment but to a basement full of candles, chains, and a book with an eye in the middle of the cover. She even reads from it, which is a big mistake. Four figures appear and hack her to pieces as Todd watches.

Made on a budget of less than $100,000, director Rhys Frake-Waterfield’s movie Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey (watch it Here) earned more than $6 million during its global release earlier this year – which means the sequel, which is going by the title Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2, has a larger budget. In fact, it’s estimated to be around ten times the budget of the first movie. The filmmakers are using some of that extra money to give the creature effects an upgrade, as you can see by the look of Pooh in a recently unveiled image from the film. That image can be found at the bottom of this article.
