Big-budgeted films with a stellar cast are normally expected to perform better at the box office than low-budgeted films. However, the 2024 box office so far has seen more major flops, big-budget films failing to make it to the breakeven point, and low-budgeted movies garnering millions across the world. And so it was for actors like Henry Cavill and Ryan Gosling, who despite their fanfare and talent, failed to woo the audiences with their feats.
Henry Cavill in The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare | Lionsgate Films
While Henry Cavill so far has recorded two flops this year (Argylle & The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare) despite some pretty astounding collaborations, last year’s box-office dominating stars Gosling and Emily Blunt failed to live up to expectations with their action-packed romantic comedy, The Fall Guy.
So while Henry Cavill and Ryan Gosling try to figure out what made their movies perform way below expectations, here...

Though nobody seemed to be in favor of the brand new horror Tarot, things turned out to work quite well for the movie since its official theatrical release on May 3, at least partially.
Having been entirely crushed by critics and thus landing a miserable score of only 21% on Rotten Tomatoes, Tarot was nonetheless very quick to become an unexpected glowing success in the box office at home and worldwide.
Based on Nicholas Adams’ 1992 novel Horoscope, Tarot follows a group of friends who accidentally violate the most important rule of Tarot readings and use someone else’s Tarot deck.
Unwillingly they set some gruesome evil free and then embark on a race with death to discover the deck’s mystery until each one of them dies.
Upon its release less than two weeks ago, the flick starring Harriet Slater and Jacob Batalon never made it to impress the critics, but instead...

The 2024 summer movie season has seen its fair share of surprises at the box office with highly anticipated projects like The Fall Guy, Challengers, and underrated films like Cocorico and Tarot. However, despite the buzz, not all films managed to witness global success. Take, for example, Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt’s star-studded The Fall Guy, which unfortunately failed to multiply it’s box office collection, despite initial hype.

Meanwhile, the underrated horror flick Tarot managed to make quite the impression at the global box office. Therefore, comparing the budget of the films and the money spent on marketing, The Fall Guy and Tarot showcased stark contrast in the fortune they made following their global run.

Before he returns to the role of Spider-Man’s best friend, “Guy in the Chair” and emergency sorcerer, Jacob Batalon is deepening his relationship with Sony Pictures. Today, Batalon is back on the big screen in the studio’s supernatural horror film, Tarot. Written and directed by Anna Halberg and Spenser Cohen, Tarot chronicles seven college friends whose individual tarot card readings come to life in deadly fashion. Batalon plays Paxton, the impulsive life of the party within his friend group.
Tarot partially utilizes Batalon as comic relief, a role that he’s perfected since breaking out in Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), but the film also allowed him to play afraid, something young actors often cite as being the most difficult emotion to play given the mechanics of a film set.
“It’s pretty tough. You have to find an organic reason to be scared. You really want to try...

David Leitch’s action-comedy The Fall Guy isn’t the normal kind of stunt Hollywood usually relies on to herald the start of the summer box office, but these aren’t normal times.
Outside of the pandemic era, that job belonged to superhero tentpoles, and specifically Marvel Studios fare (including all four Avengers movies). And Marvel returned to do the honors last year when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 debuted to $118.4 million over the May 5-7 weekend. But Hollywood was thrown off kilter again by last year’s labor strikes, with the release calendar put in disarray. Then there’s the not so-little-issue of superhero fatigue, which has forced both Marvel Studios and DC Entertainment to regroup, although Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine should a long way to aiding Marvel.
From Universal, The Fall Guy has plenty of star power. The film stars Ryan Gosling of Barbie fame as a...

India’s Film Bazaar, the Singapore-based Asia TV Forum & Market’s (Atf) IP Accelerator Project Market (Aipa) and the Southeast Asian Audio-Visual Association (Saava) have formed a project market partnership.
Film Bazaar, South Asia’s largest film market is operated by India’s National Film Development Corporation (Nfdc) and runs concurrently with the International Film Festival of India (Iffi). The project market partnership signed with Saava and Nfdc arranges for an exchange of projects in development and/or work-in-progress between them.
The exchanges start this year, with “Becoming”, a feature-length India-South Korea production from the documentary section of Film Bazaar’s co-production market going to Aipa 2023. Next year, one or more of Aipa’s projects in the current edition will be given an automatic entry into 2024’s edition of the Film Bazaar’s co-production market.

Amanda Lewis will be producing for Original. Pitch was bought through Original’s Paramount discretionary fund.
Details are under wraps, but the project is based on a series of TikTok videos that Original controls.
