Spoiler Alert: This interview contains spoilers from the Season 2 finale of Fox’s “Crime Scene Kitchen.”
While the final bake of Fox’s “Crime Scene Kitchen” Season 2 turned out to be a “Dark and Stormy” cake, inspired by the cocktail of the same name, it was a light and sunny treat for contestants Amber Croom and Yassmeen Haskins.
The classically trained baking duo beat out the other two teams competing for the Joel McHale-hosted mystery baking competition’s second-season trophy in Monday’s finale episode, titled “I Need a Drink.” And they did it without even making the exact right recipe, as they had first decided to make a “Dark and Stormy” cake, they pivoted to a piña colada-flavored version when they started to doubt their detective work.
“The hardest one was the finale cake bake because there was so many elements to it,” Haskins told Variety. “And we...

“Crime Scene Kitchen” is a baking competition series with a sweet twist. Baking teams of two are tasked with going into an abandoned kitchen where a delicious dessert was just made — and then guessing what the dessert was. They are then tasked with having to recreate the dessert, “when all that’s left are the crumbs, flour trails, and a few elusive clues.”
Produced by Fox Alternative Entertainment and Fly on the Wall (with unscripted successes such as “Big Brother” and two seasons of “Celebrity Big Brother” on CBS), the nine-episode season one of “Crime Scene Kitchen” had a premiere date of May 26, 2021, on Fox — hosted by actor and comedian Joel McHale, with celebrity food judges Curtis Stone and Yolanda Gampp.
It also aired on Fox’s free streaming platform, Tubi. Episodes can be watched through Fox Live and On-Demand, using apps from the App Store and Google Play.

Fox has ordered a second season of Crime Scene Kitchen, a baking competition series hosted by Joel McHale.
The show is a culinary guessing game in which bakers must decode what type of dessert was made, when all that’s left are the crumbs, flour trails and a few clues. They must then recreate the recipe for the judges, who will determine how closely it matches the missing dessert.
The show featured Chef Curtis Stone and cake artist Yolanda Gampp as judges.
“Crime Scene Kitchen is unlike any cooking show out there,” said Fox’s Head of Reality Rob Wade before the show’s debut last May. “It’s a truly original format with amazing baking creations, a brilliant play-along guessing game for the whole family, and Joel at the center of it all bringing hilarity at every turn. Just don’t watch it if you’re feeling hungry!”

(Warning: This post contains spoilers for the Season 1 finale of Fox's "Crime Scene Kitchen.")
"Crime Scene Kitchen" host Joel McHale spent the first seven episodes of the Fox baking-detective competition reminding teams over and over and over that they needed to follow the clues left behind in the Crime Scene Kitchen set to try to re-create exactly which dish they think was baked there.
But on Wednesday's Season 1 finale, McHale and his fellow "Crime Scene Kitchen" judges chef Curtis Stone and cake artist Yolanda Gampp dropped the show's premise for the finalists' last challenge, telling the three remaining teams they could bake whatever kind of birthday cake they wanted to for Gampp for their "showpiece" round, as long as they followed the "flavors" found in the crime scene. Contestants Natalie Collins-Fish and Luis Flores succeeded in this game-changing challenge, winning the $100,000 grand prize.

“Crime Scene Kitchen” wrapped its first season on Wednesday, crowning the top dessert detectives in an hourlong finale featuring not just one, but two major twists.
The four final teams — Luis and Natalie, Leslie and Emma, Thomas and Cathy and Lorie and Jason — were first tasked with a high-stakes dessert round in which the worst-performing team would be eliminated on the spot. After missing a tricky toothpick clue, Lorie and Jason and Leslie and Emma made chocolate napoleons rather than using traditional puff pastry and landed themselves in the bottom.
Leslie and Emma’s structural issues were deemed more problematic than Lorie and Jason’s too-thick puff by the judges, and the mother-daughter duo were consigned to a fourth-place finish.

Partners in crime Natalie Collins-Fish and Luis Flores came out as the top dessert detectives on the Season 1 finale of Fox’s “Crime Scene Kitchen” Wednesday. The Las Vegas-based professional bakers bested three other baking duos in the final episode of the season — and 11 teams total over the course of the competition’s first season — to win the $100,000 grand prize.
With credentials like that, TheWrap had to ask Collins-Fish and Flores about their winning strategy over the course of the nine-week competition. Each week, in just the allotted two minutes, the duo had to navigate the show’s titular set, the Crime Scene Kitchen, to find all the clues they needed to figure out the various mysterious bakes.

The final four teams will battle for the best-baking-detective trophy on Wednesday’s Season 1 finale of “Crime Scene Kitchen,” but first they’ll have to survive the dessert round.
In a new exclusive clip from the episode, airing Wednesday at 9/8c on Fox, the bakers reveal the brutal new twist — one team will be eliminated after the first challenge of the night. After besting eight other teams throughout the baking competition’s first season, the four sets of finalists will have to impress the judges with their chocolate napoleons if they want a shot at the final challenge and the $100,000 prize.
Of course, this being “Crime Scene Kitchen,” there is no guarantee that the dessert-round assignment actually was chocolate napoleons, but all four teams — including Lorie and Jason, Emma and Leslie, Thomas and Cathy and Luis and Natalie — appear to have gone in the same direction based on the clues they picked up.

“The Masked Singer’s” Ken Jeong is the guest judge on this week’s “Crime Scene Kitchen,” and judging by TheWrap’s new exclusive clip from the Wednesday episode, he’ll be stealing some attention from his former “Community” co-star Joel McHale.
Erinn, in particular, seems especially distracted by “Masked Singer” judge Jeong’s presence, much to the dismay of McHale and her teammate Amanda. “If anything goes wrong, I’m blaming her,” Amanda warns as Erinn and Jeong hug it out.
Hey, after Joel’s many visits over to Ken’s “Masked Singer” home over the past few years, it’s only fair that Ken gets a chance to step over onto Joel’s sweet new gig on an equally mysterious (but so much more delicious) Fox competition, right? Right!
Of course, we don’t know if Joel was anticipating just how much of his thunder Ken would be stealing when he stopped by.

Fox premieres “Crime Scene Kitchen,” its newest guessing-game series, Wednesday, following the conclusion to Season 5 of “The Masked Singer.” The face of this baking competition is “Community” alum and “Masked Singer” judge Ken Jeong’s bestie, Joel McHale, who is maybe not the last person you’d expect to host a baking show — but he’s certainly toward the bottom of the list. But that’s exactly why Fox wanted him for the gig.
“I think they wanted to go with me because like, you know, nine other people turned it down,” McHale told TheWrap, jokingly. “No, I think they wanted somebody who had an outside perspective, who was not like a cake expert, because they have chef Curtis Stone and cake artist Yolanda Gampp, who are freaking scientists and obviously very good on camera. But I think they wanted somebody who was not of that world, that could just...

Fox is whipping up a deliciously deceptive show for your consumption this summer: the broadcast network has ordered up a new Joel McHale-hosted baking-mystery competition series called “Crime Scene Kitchen.”
Per Fox, “Crime Scene Kitchen” is a culinary guessing game in which bakers are tasked with decoding what type of dessert was made, when all that’s left are the crumbs, flour trails and a few elusive clues. They must then recreate the recipe for celebrity judges, chef Curtis Stone and cake artist Yolanda Gampp, who will determine how closely their sweet treat matches the missing dessert – and how good it tastes.
Yes, Fox is really into its guessing-game shows these days, and “Crime Scene Kitchen” will very appropriately premiere Wednesday, May 26 at 9/8c following the Season 5 finale of “The Masked Singer.”

“Crime Scene Kitchen,” a new baking competition series hosted by comedian, actor and author Joel McHale and judged by chef Curtis Stone and cake artist Yolanda Gampp, will premiere May 26 at 9 p.m. on Fox.
The network describes “Crime Scene Kitchen” as a “culinary guessing game,” in which bakers must decode what type of dessert they will be tasked with making. This will be done by them sifting through a few “elusive clues” and tasting the crumbs.
