When CBS’ crime drama Criminal Minds clinched another last minute renewal over the weekend, the number of episodes was not revealed with speculation that the veteran series may be getting a 13-episode final season.
When CBS today unveiled its 2018-19 lineup this morning, Criminal Minds again was on the fall schedule in its most recent Tuesday 10 Pm slot, which would suggest a possible full-season pickup.
At CBS’ upfront press breakfast, the network’s entertainment president Kelly Kahl said that the exact order size for Criminal Minds has not been determined. (It is expected to be somewhere between 13-22 episodes.)
Will Season 14 be Criminal Minds‘ last? “Never say never with a show like Criminal Minds,” Kahl told Deadline, noting that the crime drama has “a very passionate audience.”
While the core cast of Criminal Minds is already locked in for next season, they will have to make new deals for a potential fifteenth season.

It came down to the wire, but Criminal Minds has been renewed!
CBS skipped the Black Friday purge and opted instead to share their news on Saturday.
There are no details about the renewal, but it does come in conjunction with the renewals of Man With a Plan, Instinct, and Life in Pieces, as well as the cancellations of Scorpion and Superior Donuts.
The renewal means Criminal Minds will be celebrating its 300th episode with the upcoming season premiere.
That's a huge achievement and one that has come amidst many casting changes and with a lot of worry about what might come next for the series.

As usual, the renewal of veteran crime drama Criminal Minds came down to the wire with CBS and lead studio ABC Studios going back and forth on terms. Making things less complicated this time was the fact that all Criminal Minds veteran cast members already had deals for next season.
Also as usual, CBS is not confirming the size of the order or any other details. There had been speculation that the network may renew Criminal Minds for a final 13-episode season but for now, that is just speculation. We will get a better sense when CBS releases its schedule on Wednesday morning.
After a long run at 9 Pm, Criminal Minds moved to 10 Pm this season. It has improved the time period and is doing well in delayed viewing.

Criminal Minds, CBS's second-longest-running series behind NCIS, will have a two-hour finale starting at 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 18.
The real mystery is whether the finale will be only for Season 13 or for the series itself, as CBS has continued its pattern of waiting until the last second to decide whether or not to renew the veteran procedural.
Erica Messer, executive producer, and showrunner has been with Criminal Minds since its beginning in 2005.
Previously a writer on series such as Alias, Charmed, and The O.C., Messer also served as executive producer and showrunner for the spinoff Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders for its two seasons.
Taking time out from developing programming at her Erica Messer Productions company, Messer talked all things Criminal Minds, including its finale and possible future.
Give us an overview of what’s going to happen in Wednesday’s two episodes.
I guess we'd equate it, in a sports analogy,...

Awoooooooo! Animal Planet has ordered new series “Wolves & Warriors,” which will pair combat vets suffering from Ptsd with rescued wolves, TheWrap has learned exclusively.
Premiering later this year, “Wolves & Warriors” features U.S. Navy veteran Matt Simmons and Dr. Lorin Lindner, a clinical psychologist, the husband and wife team behind the Lockwood Animal Rescue Center (Larc). Larc has a unique purpose: to rescue wolves from dangerous domestic situations, illegal breeding operations, petting zoos and abuse or neglect scenarios and then introduce them to combat veterans suffering from Ptsd, per Animal Planet’s official logline.
The program provides veterans the opportunity to heal the wounds of war, by personally caring for the 50 wolves at the sanctuary, it continued. Larc is closed to the public so rescue wolves and warriors meet in a safe and private space as they begin their journeys to recovery after the traumas they’ve suffered.

“Wolves & Warriors” is produced for Animal Planet by Leftfield Pictures where Gretchen Palek, Shawn Witt, Jason Carey, Dave Luce and Justin Comins serve as executive producers. For Animal Planet, Keith Hoffman is executive producer and Sarah Russell is producer.
All of the Discovery-owned channels — yes, including the new ones — will present their new slates to advertisers on Tuesday at the company’s annual upfront event.

Welcome, Matt, to the Bau.
After most of the season has passed, Matt Simmons finally got his spotlight episode on Criminal Minds Season 13 Episode 19.
Simmons came over to the Bau as a refugee from the FBI's International Response Team, featured on Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, the better of Criminal Minds' two short-lived spinoffs.
That series always felt to me akin to Law & Order: Los Angeles, full of darkness offset by a good deal of light. That must have been because of the colorful locations and the positivity projected by Gary Sinese's Unit Chief Jack Garrett.

Simmons was Beyond Borders' second-best character, a solid family man seemingly unfazed by all the ugliness he investigated.

The case is very, very personal for Matt Simmons in this episode of Criminal Minds, as he finds out that the site of a hostage situation is the law firm where his wife, Kristy, just started working. But he can't just rush over there like he wants to (at least not at first), even when the Bau is put on a clock by the UnSub.
As we see in "Ex Parte," Kristy doesn't just sit by and do nothing. In fact, the women are the bravest hostages in that law firm, though that doesn't end well for one of them. One of the men tries to trick an UnSub (but ultimately fails), while another man's fear almost leads to a tragic moment.

Can Matt Simmons stay levelheaded when his wife's life is in danger on Criminal Minds? That's the question for "Ex Parte," which sees the Bau in charge of a hostage situation at the law firm where she works.
Read on for part 1 of BuddyTV's chat with Daniel Henney to find out how Simmons handles that, what it's been like transitioning over from the spin-off, Beyond Borders, and more.

There are few scenes on Criminal Minds that are played just for giggles.
In an exclusive clip, we have what appears to be a fun, if somewhat combative, moment between husband and wife about who knows best.
You'd think that Matt would be well aware of the importance of technology in his day-to-day life given how often he uses it for his job and its role in saving people.
But when the Bau takes charge of a hostage situation at a law firm in D.C., where Matt Simmons’ wife, Kristy (Kelly Frye), works, I have to wonder whether he has all he needs to get the job done.
At least until Kristy got to him the morning before the event.
