House Speaker Mike Johnson has thrown his support behind Greg Abbott as the Texas governor continues to defy the Biden administration following a Supreme Court ruling granting the federal government authority to remove swaths of razor wire installed at the southern border by the state.
On Monday, the conservative-controlled court determined in a 5-4 ruling that the Biden administration can remove concertina wire Texas installed at various points of their border with Mexico. The coils of wire have been linked to slews of injuries of undocumented migrants.

‘Development Hell’ is the metaphorical phrase used in Hollywood whenever a project gets cleared to be made by a big studio but then takes years (potentially decades) to make. Deadpool was a classic case of this and thanks to Ryan Reynolds and Marvel the movie has already become one of the greatest cult classics of all time. The Flash was another case, with the original idea for the film coming all the way back in 2014 – unfortunately, it doesn’t seem as though The Flash will be making quite the same impact that a movie like Deadpool did.
Despite the negative feedback so far from audiences and critics and disastrous box office results, there’s no denying that The Flash has shaken things up a bit in the DC cinematic universe and has given fans a lot of questions moving forward. After all, the new Dcu headed by James Gunn is...

While The Flash has been underperforming drastically at the box office, Ezra Miller is doing some damage control now that the temporary protective order against the actor has been dropped.
Ezra Miller took to Instagram on Friday to make a rare public statement. “I’m encouraged by today’s outcome and very grateful at this moment to everyone who has stood by me and sought to ensure this egregious misuses of the protective order system was halted…Protective orders are meant to provide safety for individuals, families and children who are in danger. They are not meant to be used as weapons by those seeking attention or fleeting tabloid fame or some sort of personal vengeance when there are people in true and dire need of these services.” Miller added, “I have been unjustly and directly targeted by an individual who the facts have shown has a history of such manipulative and destructive actions.

A judge has allowed a temporary harassment order against Ezra Miller to expire.
The Greenfield District Court order, put in place in June 2022, was brought by the mother of a 12-year-old Massachusetts child. The mother accused Miller of inappropriate behavior around the child, as detailed in a Daily Beast article, which among other things, claimed Miller was aggressive toward adults during a social visit and paid undue attention to the child. The article also stated Miller wore a gun during one encounter, something Miller’s attorney, Marissa Elkins denied Friday.
In the Daily Beast article, the child said of Miller, “It was really uncomfortable. I was really nervous. I was scared to be around them after they’d yelled at my mother and she was crying.”
Now Miller is pushing back against those claims in a rare public statement after the order was lifted.

Exclusive: A temporary harassment order issued against The Flash star Ezra Miller in Massachusetts after mother of a 12-year-old accused Miller of acting inappropriately around her child was lifted Friday after a court hearing.
The mother, Shannon Guin, accused the Fantastic Beasts star of menacing her family and acting inappropriately toward her nonbinary child in a story that appeared last summer in the Daily Beast.
No criminal charges were ever filed. Miller’s attorney said all of the actor’s encounters with the child were initiated by the mother. The attorney, Marissa Elkins, said Miller was “never alone with the child and never interacted with the child outside of two brief encounters which occurred in the presence of several other adults.”
Elkins also said Miller never had a weapon on them during these encounters, as Guin has claimed.
Miller appeared in a hearing on the matter today in Greenfield District Court.

A trio of docs and a wider-than-usual run for a Vertical thriller populate a specialty weekend with fewer new openings as theaters stick with Asteroid City and devote screens to Indiana Jones and Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken. Call it jittery Friday as the indie community like the rest of Hollywood awaits news from SAG-AFTRA as the guild’s contract is set to expire tonight.

Akiva Goldsmith’s brilliant creation, The Crowded Room, released its sixth episode today, and honestly, it takes a turn that none of us could see coming by a long shot, especially because of the way the episodes have been presented so far. However, this episode takes a completely different turn, turning the story on its head from this point forward. Brace yourselves as we go on a recap of everything that happened in the sixth episode of The Crowded Room.

Sheroes, the writing and directing debut of producer Jordan Gertner begins with a look into the lives of its four leads Diamond, Ezra, Ryder and Daisy.
Their lives are so hard that all of them end up exclaiming “This is such fucking bullshit” at the misery of private yoga lessons by the pool, selling art in an upscale gallery, being an actress or a professional skateboarder. You really feel bad for these poor young ladies and totally understand their need to jump on Diamond’s father’s private jet and fly to his villa in Thailand for a booze and drug-fueled vacation.
Complications and cliches ensue when one of their suitcases is accidentally switched with one full of cocaine. Which they proceed to snort the hell out of only to wake up the...

It’s almost impossible for Brian Cox to be in a bad movie because, well, he’s giving a Brian Cox performance every time. Simply put, Cox is the saving grace of his latest feature, “Prisoner’s Daughter,” a predictable family drama that has heart thanks to grounding performances by Cox, Ernie Hudson, and breakout child star Christopher Convery. The rest, however, leaves a lot to be desired.
However, there are still other pleasures to be found in the final product. Catherine Hardwicke is building out the perfect frothy cinematic universe where “Prisoner’s Daughter” and her recent Toni Collette vehicle “Mafia Mamma” could beautifully coexist — and make for an enjoyable wild ride.
Hardwicke previously spoke with IndieWire’s Kate Erbland about her wide-ranging tastes when it comes to picking scripts, and “Prisoner’s Daughter” is no exception. Written by Mark Bacci and premiering at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival, the family drama...

Her career hobbled by uninspired material since the commercial bonanza of “Twilight’s” first screen installment 15 years ago, Catherine Hardwicke at first appears to be back on firmer terra with “Prisoner’s Daughter.” Its mix of adult dysfunction and coming-of-age pains against a downscale milieu (here working-class Las Vegas) recalls the director’s strong initial features, “Thirteen” and “Lords of Dogtown.”
But this drama, with Brian Cox as a terminally ill ex-con reunited with daughter Kate Beckinsale and her son, soon reveals itself as a formulaic contrivance heading towards predictable strife and tearjerking. Competently handled and well-cast, it’s nonetheless held back from generating much authentic emotion by the too-familiar beats of Mark Bacci’s script. Vertical is opening the feature, which premiered at TIFF last fall, on limited U.S. theatrical screens this Friday. It’ll doubtless do better in release to home formats, those dates as yet Tba.
