Long considered the greatest British folk-rock bassist of all time, Dave Pegg has spent the majority of his musical career with the groundbreaking band Fairport Convention, with whom he has played (bass and mandolin) since 1970. He also added his expertise to the legendary progressive rock band Jethro Tull for 16 years (1979-1995).
In his various musical roles, "Peggy" has appeared in several documentaries and filmed concerts over the course of nearly five decades. As of 2014, he is still going strong with Fairport, The Dylan Project, and other merry musical lineups, often commuting between France and his home in Banbury, Oxfordshire.
Peggy can also be seen (via footage shot in Banbury) in his friend, writer-director Scott Allen Nollen's, concert video "Nollen and Jacobsen: Live at Glenfiddich House" (1996), which is dedicated to him. During the video show, Nollen plays a custom-made Scottish 5-string bass he acquired from Pegg in 1990. Pegg also contributed significant material and an afterword to Nollen's book "Jethro Tull: A History of the Band, 1968-2001."
