- Meng'er Zhang was born on 22 April 1987 in Nanjing, Jiangsu, China. She is an actress and producer, known for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021), The Witcher (2019) and Untitled Shang-Chi Sequel. She has been married to Yung Lee since 10 May 2021.
- Carina Lau moved to Hong Kong with her family at the age of 14 and at the the time could not speak the local Cantonese and was often teased by other people the "Mainland Girl". She would eventually gave her best effort to learn the language and then was re-accepted at the TVB actors training program when she had improved her speaking ability. It was 1983 the year when she had graduated from the program and launched her acting career as contract basic actress for TVB, and her now boyfriend Tony Leung (Happy Together) was graduated one year earlier. Her acting career for TVB was limited to playing ornamental parts in series for the first several years and she didn't get a major challenging starring role until the hit series Looking Back in Anger. That series had established her status as a strong leading lady, but she was aiming to abandon the small screen for films.
She had been in tabloid headlines for her near-marriage romance with a handsome billionaire in the late 80s, and she was considering giving up acting to marry him but the wedding got cancelled the last minute, and Carina was devastated. Shortly after she started dating Tony after partnering to do a stage play called "Happy Lemon Husband". It was "I Am Sorry" (a low-budget dramedy) that first garnered her the HK best actress nomination in 1989, and she had previously been sent out by TVB to do some films but nothing significant enough to turn her into a film star. Since leaving TVB, she had been approached by film jobs consistently. She found the dream role when Wong Kar Wai let her play a sexy and volatile showgirl in Days of Being Wild opposite Leslie Cheung and Maggie Cheung, and she was in the spotlight and became the "It" girl of the year during film festivals and awards. She once told the press that it was WKW who taught her how to bring out the best of her acting skills and how to use body language to convey emotions.
Over the course the 90s, Carina was constantly working mostly on dramas and comedies and had many box office hits. She subsequently chose very daring dramatic roles and she has a reputation for playing troubled women and prostitutes very well. For instance, her bisexual role in Intimates was one of the most challenging roles of her career and it was very provocative that it was entirely accepted by mainstream audiences. Towards the late 90s, she cut reduced her working in films since there was lesser good scripts and the industry was in decline. She even participated in a period dramatic series in Taiwan and a HK theatrical play when films didn't excite her. With more than 60 starring roles in films, TV series and plays, she was not desperate to work just for work, so the recent years she's still one of the highest earning actress in Asia because she's the spokesperson for numerous big fashion and cosmetic labels. It was unfortunate that her five year involvement in making the most lavish sci-fi epic 2046 had reduced her to a supporting role. She was frustrated that she didn't know what she was playing since Wong Kar Wai had not issued a script and was working from his head the whole time. Finally, a fellow actor recommended her to read a script called Curiosity Kills the Cat, a low-budget Chinese thriller, and insisted that she should do the film because it was clear that the leading role was perfectly suitable for her and she's never played anything like it before. Her performance garnered her the best reviews of her career. In this film, she turned in a multi-layered and unpredictable performance and for the first time she was willing to be made up to look very middle-aged and unattractive, and she was welling to do 3 takes of paint splattering all over her like Sissy Spacek in Carrie. - Actress

He was married to Szu-Ying Chien. He died in 1963 in China.- I Eat Tomatoes was originally a math major in Soochow University when he began writing. After two years, he published his first 6 million character long web novel. In his third year, he quit school to become a full-time author. At that time, he had already published more than 20 million characters worth of novels. On November 26, 2012, he ranked 2nd on China's Rich Internet Authors Ranking with an annual income of 21 million yuan in royalties, which drew the attention of everyone. Since childhood, IET has been fond of wuxia novels. He was deeply fascinated with the works and wuxia type worlds of Jin Yong, Gu Long, and Wo Long. The first wuxia novel he read was Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber by Jin Yong. He had spent a whole day and night reading it, as if possessed by a devil.
In high school, IET used Li Xunhuan, his favorite character from Gu Long's wuxia novel, Xiaoli Feidao, as a model for his own novel, The Legend of Xingfeng. Xiao Li Flying Dagger never missed its target. When it flew, demons would be scared! How imposing was this?
After entering university, he had a lot more free time, and his dreams of wuxia were unceasingly expanding. He felt as if he was on the verge of erupting. Thus, with Xiaoli Feidao as his theme, Inch of Radiance was born. Afterward, Stellar Transformations, Coiling Dragon, The Nine Cauldrons, Swallowed Star, and Desolate Era were written.
Numerous people read them, and he is one of the few authors who was at the top of the Qidian rankings from the very beginning. His name could be found at the very top of the rankings numerous times. Moreover, once he had finished Stellar Transformationsand Coiling Dragon, countless sequel fan-fictions emerged. Due to these countless fan-fictions, a great number of lawsuits were also filed. The netizens began to spread a phrase "Don't read Stellar Transformations, it is to call on bookworms in vain."1 He truly embodies the title of "Net Culture King" and is unshakable in his position. He was nicknamed "Tomato" by his readers and began addressing himself as "Tomato" too.
Zhu Hong Zhi's second novel, Inch of Radiance, reached the top of Baidu's novel rankings that year and was the most popular novel in its year. Moreover, he has already written six novels that have climbed their way to the top of Baidu's novel rankings. He is the internet author with the most works in the top rankings of Baidu's novel rankings.

Chao Wang was born on 21 January 1964 in Nanjing, Jiangsu, China. He is a writer and director, known for The Orphan of Anyang (2001), Ri ri ye ye (2004) and Luxury Car (2006).- Wu Ch'Eng-En is believed to have been born around 1506, and is traditionally attributed with the 100-chapter novel "Hsi-yu chi" (Japanese: Sai-yu Ki; English: Journey to the West), first published in 1592. In the West, it is best known in a highly abridged translation of only thirty chapters by Arthur Waley, which he called "Monkey". Little is known of Wu's life, though he is believed to be an artistic genius, who weaved his novel around a legend that had been popular in stories and plays for nearly a millenia. "Hsi-yu chi" and its predecessors were based on the account of a T'ang Buddhist monk named Hsüan Tsang (596-664), who was also known as Tripitaka, who travelled from China to India to search for Buddhist scriptures. Although such pilgrimages were common and unremarkable, his story was frequently retold with the companionship of a disciple, Sun Wu-kiung (Monkey Aware-of-Vacuity), who in many ways is the Hindu god Hanuman with a good many more human foibles, generally leading toward mischief. The anthropoid simian was introduced to the story around the thirteenth century and became the core of Wu's novel. Sun is accompanied by a lustful, gluttonous pig he must keep in check, and a dragon enchanted in the form of a flounder s punishment for breaking the Jade Emperor's cup. The story is truly a journey of enlightenment, mixed with a good bit of exuberance, humor, and fun. The story is about a journey to buddhahood, and only Tripitaka is destined for it, yet the fictional, anthropomorphic characters are the focus with Tripitaka the hollow, and though the story has been adapted in many forms since, including movies, plays, comic books, and adventure novel, they all bear more than a little resemblance to Wu's unifying vision for his disparate sources.

Legendary Chinese actress and singer Zhou Xuan was born on 1 August (year of birth uncertain as either 1918 or 1920) in Jiangsu province, China and originally named Su Pu.
At 3, she was sold by her uncle (by deceit) to the Wang family and thereafter her name changed to Wang Xiaohong. Later she was sent to a Zhou family, and there her name again changed to adopt the new family name. The then Ms. Zhou Xiaohong joined the Mingyue singing troupe in 1932 (when she was around 12 or 13 years of age) where she adopted the stage name "Zhou Xuan" (Xuan meaning "beautiful jade" in Chinese). She started singing on radio and at 14 was selected as the second most popular female singer in China. She soon earned the nickname as "The Golden Voice".
In 1936, she starred in the movie Street Angel (1937)(Street Angel) which would bring her to fame. In the movie, she played a singer and sang what would become 2 of her most popular hits, "The Four Season Song"(Si Ji Ge)and "The Wandering Female Singer"(Tian Ya Ge Nu). She then began to earn a reputation both as an actress and a singer. And went on to make a total of 43 movies in her lifetime.
Reportedly, by her own confession, despite the many movies she acted in, she was unhappy with most of them. Her favorite remained her role in the "Angel". Other major works include, "Recall To Jiangnan", "Night Inn" and "The Secret History of the Qing Dynasty" (info on movie titles from China Radio International).
Her love life however was disappointing. She first married musician/composer Yan Hua and it ended after 8 years in 1941. However, she continued making stage, radio and film appearances during this time, in a total of 16 films between 1939 - 1941.
In 1946, after World War II she moved to Hong Kong to star in "Recall To Jiangnan" in which she played the roles of two different women at the same time. One an innocent country girl, the other a spoiled party-going girl.
From here on, her popularity increased and soon went beyond China and to South East Asia.
Around this time or shortly before, Zhou Xuan met Zhu Huaide, a cloth merchant and lived together in Hong Kong. When she became pregnant and thought of marriage, she began to realize that Zhu was insincere and announced their separation in the press.
She returned to the newly established People's Republic Of China in 1950 to star in "The Peaceful Pigeon", her last movie (one which she would never complete).
Later in Shanghai, she gave birth to her first son, Zhou Min.
Then came the third man in her life -- the art designer for "The Peaceful Pigeon". The love affair ended with her heart broken, and another son, Zhou Wei.
Thereafter, she suffered a nervous breakdown, and was regularly admitted to hospitals and mental institutions. She died on 22 September 1957, officially due to brain encephalitis.
Her songs remain popular to this day and have been remade by many other singers including greats like Taiwanese Queen of Love Songs, Cai Qin, the late Teresa Teng and the late Anita Mui.
Zhou Xuan is estimated to have recorded over 200 songs (114 of them for the movies) and was one of the first Chinese singers to sing with a microphone.
Several of her evergreen songs include "Shanghai Night"(Yeh Shanghai) and "When Will You Come Again" (He Ri Jun Zai Lai).
Her second son Zhou Wei has written a book with his wife, Chang Jing: "Zhou Xuan's Diary", where he provided insights into the legendary singer's life which many didn't know.
Zhou Wei and Chang Jing's daughters have both taken a similar path. The oldest, Zhou Xiao Xuan is a pianist and has worked with the Shanghai Media Company. The youngest, Amanda Zhou, is a former figure skater and now also an actress.
In June 2004, Hong Kong director Kar-Wai Wong announced he has planned a movie biographing this wonderfully talented actress and singer. Award-winning Hong Kong actress Maggie Cheung and Chinese actress Jie Dong have been cast in the starring roles as the elder and younger Zhou Xuan respectively.- Henry C. Fuli Wang was born on 22 October 1949 in Xuzhou, Jiangsu, China. She is an actress, known for Ri Chu (1985), Legend of Tianyun Mountain (1980) and Zan men de niu bai sui (1983).- After attending school in Taizhou, Hu began studying engineering at Beijing Technical University in 1959. He specialized in hydraulic engineering projects and completed his studies as a water management engineer in 1965. Hu then worked as a research assistant at his university until 1968. Since he had joined the Chinese Communist Party in 1964 while still studying, he was now also employed as a political lecturer. From 1968 to 1974, Hu supervised corresponding projects in the northwestern province of Gansu on behalf of the Ministry of Hydraulic Engineering and Electricity.
In 1974/75 he worked as secretary of the commission for investment construction in that province, then until 1980 as deputy head of planning and administration of the said commission. Then from 1980 to 1982, Hu became deputy chairman of the Investment Construction Commission in Gansu Province. After a training course at the Communist Party School in Beijing, the XII. CCP Party Congress Hu in September 1982 as Central Committee candidate. Towards the end of 1982, Hu joined the Central Committee (CC) of the CPC, where he also became a member of its Standing Committee. As a result, he initially worked as chairman of the Communist Youth Association (KJV). In this role, he advocated Deng Xiaoping's reform policies, which were rebelliously defended by the "Beijing Youth Newspaper" under his command.
In mid-1985, Hu was given leadership of the party in the southern Chinese province of Guizhou. In October 1988 he was sent to Tibet as Communist Party leader, where unrest soon developed in Lhasa due to Tibet's aspirations for autonomy: the Beijing leadership ordered the imposition of martial law in the region, which killed around 70 people. Regardless of the party secretary's political complicity in these human rights violations, Hu was also instrumental in stabilizing the political situation in Tibet and promoting the economic development of the impoverished and backward region, whereby his practical experience as a hydraulic engineer benefited him. In October 1992, the XIVth CPC Party Congress confirmed Hu as a Central Committee member.
He was also elected to the Politburo, its Standing Committee and the Secretariat of the Central Committee. The following year, the youngest Chinese politician was given the vice chairmanship of the Central Committee's organizing committee and the leadership of the Central Committee's party school. The new director of the party school had studies carried out on the communist and social democratic party history of Europe, which he hoped would provide a way out of the ideological crisis of communism.
