Yuriy Levitin is Russian, Soviet composer. Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1965). People's Artist of the RSFSR (1980).
In 1935 Levitin graduated from the Leningrad Conservatory in piano, in 1937 - he also had graduate school. In 1942 he graduated from the Leningrad Conservatory in the composition class of Dmitri Shostakovich. Yuriy Levitin began his creative career in 1937. He first appeared in the cinema in 1948 (animated film The Flower with Seven Colors (1948)).
The author of one of the most famous Soviet works for double bass (sonata for double bass solo, dedicated to R. Azarkhin). He worked as a pianist in the Leningrad State Stage and the Leningrad Philharmonic Society (1931-1941). He headed the musical part of the Variety Theater in Tashkent (1941-1942).
