- Educated at Christ Church Cathedral Choir School and The King's School, Canterbury. Following that he undertook National Service with the Royal Air Force in Germany. Deciding to pursue his interest in broadcasting, he joined the BBC in 1957. His first job was as a studio manager for the Home Service's Nine O'Clock News. He was especially inspired by the professionalism of newsreaders Alvar Liddell and Frank Phillips and became a newsreader himself. He worked as a presenter for BBC Radio 2 from its inception, building a loyal audience for the early evening weekday show he occupied from the mid-1970s until his retirement in 1998. Its attractive mix of interviews, quizzes and music won him the accolade of Radio Personality of the Year on three occasions and a Gold Sony Radio Award for the best Drivetime Music Programme. On his retirement he made no secret of his disdain for BBC Director General John Birt and his policies, which Dunn said had reduced the atmosphere and morale at the corporation in his final years.

Molly May was born on 24 May 1914 in Brentford, London, England, UK. She was an actress, known for L'avare (1939). She died on 27 November 2004 in East Sussex, England, UK.- Ultra-fundamentalist preacher Billy James Hargis was born in Texarkana, Texas, on August 3, 1925. At 18 years of age he was ordained as a minister in the Rose Hill Christian Church and later became a minister with the First Christian Church at various parishes in Oklahoma and Missouri. In 1947 he founded the Christian Crusade, an organization he said was dedicated to fighting Communism, atheismm and its allies. He also had radio and television programs that were carried by hundreds of stations throughout the US.
A close friend of Gen. Edwin Walker--an Army general later cashiered from the service when he was caught using training sessions to indoctrinate young troops in racist, anti-Semitic and ultra-right-wing politics--Hargis became a member of the far-right-wing John Birch Society. He used his radio and television broadcasts to promote right-wing political figures, and for a time was a speechwriter for the infamous Sen. Joseph McCarthy. In one of Hargis' more famous incidents, he traveled to West Germany in 1953 and launched 100,000 balloons with Bible verses tied to them across the border into Communist East Germany.
Hargis came to believe that the assassination of President John F. Kennedy was a conspiracy between American Communists and their Soviet "masters", and that the two were trying to place the blame on ultra-conservative political organizations, such as his. He became a fervent supporter of Barry Goldwater during the 1964 presidential campaign. On one of his radio broadcasts he accused a journalist of smearing Goldwater. When a station that carried Hargis' broadcast refused to let the journalist reply to the charges on the air, he sued, and won. From that case came the establishment of what became known as the "Fairness Doctrine".
In 1966 Hargis established the American Christian College in Tulsa, Oklahoma, as an alternative for Christian parents who didn't want to send their children to "secular" schools where they would come under the influences of what he called the "evils" of the Jewish Anti-Defamation League, The Beatles, the women's liberation movement and long hair, which Hargis believed led to "rampant immorality". He also formed a college choir that he called "The All-American Kids" as an example of what clean-cut, moral American youth should be like. However, it wasn't long before stories began circulating that the main purpose of the "All-American Kids" was to keep Hargis provided with a steady supply of young sex partners. Those rumors were confirmed as fact in 1976 when Time magazine, which had been investigating the stories, found two former members of the choir--one male and one female--who had discovered on their wedding night that they had both been having sex with Hargis. Hargis vehemently denied the charges, but as a steady procession of former members of the "All-American Kids" choir, both male and female, came forward to corroborate the students' stories, and many others told their own stories of Hargis' sexual predations on both male and female members, he was forced to disband the "All-American Kids" and shut down American Christian College.
In spite of scandals such as these, Hargis still fervently pushed his ultra-right-wing fundamentalist Christian political beliefs, and published many books decrying Communist "influence" in everyday American life. He died in November of 2004. - Actress

In 1927, in time for the birth of modern British Ballet, Maude joined Ballet Rambert as a Principal Dancer. Her first recorded appearance were in Purcell's "The Fairy Queen" and "Echo Dance" with Diana Gould choreographed by Frederick Ashton. Performed in the first production of "Facade" and in lost Ashton works such as "The Lady of Shallott, "The Lord of Burleigh" and "Florentine Picture". Her diversity was expressed in a series of ballets on sport called "Le Boxing" by Susan Salaman, this contrasted with roles in "Les Sylphides, "Carnaval" and "Aurora's Wedding". Maude is remembered as the foremost interpreter of Antony Tudor's works, dancing in his first ballet "Cross-garter'd" to her acclaimed performance as Caroline in "Jardin aux Lilas" 1936 (now performed as "Lilac Garden" in the Paris repertoire). Tudor danced with her in his "Dark Elegies" 1937 (premiering at the Duchess Theatre in the Strand) and again in 1938 for his "Gala Performance" partnering her role as the Italian Ballerina and the role of Chatelaine in Andrée Howards's superb "La Fete Etrange". Although a relatively short career Maude secures not only a significant place in dance history but in television history with her performance in "Pasquinade", the first BBC Revue Show in 1937. Another historical note is both Maude and great friend Margot Fonteyn took ballet class in Paris from the legendary Mathilde Kschessinska (HSH Princess Romanovsky-Krassinsky). When Antony Tudor left for New York, Peggy van Praagh and Maude became joint directors of his London Ballet he had set up with Agnes de Mille. After leaving the Stage, together with husband Nigel Gosling, Arts Critic, an important contribution was made as authors and critics under the pseudonymn "Alexander Bland". Amongst the ballet and dance titles, two others of great historical importance are "Leningrad" and "Nadar". There home became a "Salon to the Arts", and provided the first home in England to their devoted, lifelong friend Rudolf Nureyev. Lionel Bradley has described Maude as having "a noble serenity and a deep expressiveness allied to sparkling gifts of comedy". A lady in every sense she remained active and entertained until peacefully passing away at her Kensington home on November 27th 2004, surrounded by her family and son Nicholas. One of her last vistors was Wallace Potts, her devoted companion and partner of their beloved Rudolf Nureyev.- Director
