- Kathleen, the daughter of a poor tenant farmer, dreams of her wedding with her beloved Terrence. The dream is interrupted when the Squire of the estate takes an interest in Kathleen and forces her father to allow him to marry her to forgive the father's debt. Unfortunately the Squire loses interest in Kathleen once a potential gravy train arrives in the person of the exceedingly wealthy Lady Clancarthy. To be rid of Kathleen the Squire abandons her in the forest where she is beset upon by ruffians, but is rescued by Terrence, who is framed for murder for his troubles.

Unfortunately Clay has also been targeted by experienced vamp, Rita, who has him set firmly in her improper sights. Mary Lee and her Doctor rescue Vera and help her get proper care after a series of revelations showing actual patients of the loathsome disease. Finally, Mary Lee and her new husband volunteer to help our boys fighting the Huns in France.
- Brilliant but besotted attorney, David Harmon, wins a big case but ends the day in a dingy waterfront flophouse. His fiancée puts him on a sailing ship in an attempt to get him to dry out, but once at sea a storm wrecks the ship and strands Harmon on a tropical island. He rescues the daughter of a native chieftain from being sacrificed to the lava gods and together they live an idyllic life for a time. Harmon is drawn back to civilization though and he returns to his former city only to find that his fiancée has wed his best friend. Another bout of drink finally brings Harmon back to realize that his true life is back on the island so he returns to once again find his beloved about to be sacrificed, this time with their son in her arms.
- Two newspapermen who wrote a successful book using a phony author have to come up with a real person when the book is a huge success. Ailing literary agent Jack Holt takes the job while his safe cracking friend tags along for the ride. Jack falls in love with the Governor's daughter just as the Governor is about to be blackmailed by the evil Drisco, who has planted $20,000 in the Governor's safe.
- The gentlemen of a fashionable social club become annoyed when their guest, Ben, has their wives entranced with stories of his bravery battling outlaws in the wild west. They decide to teach him a lesson by having a club worker disguise himself with a bear skin rug and sneak up on Ben.
- Living in a private school while awaiting the fortune she will inherit if she remains unmarried until she's 21, Mary is not only already married, but also has a child with her gym-teacher husband. About to be discovered by the Principal's conniving son, they hide their baby in the attic of her dormitory.
- Margaret has given up her stage career to marry inventor Jerry Benson. Jerry fails to impress oil executive William Graves with his idea, but Margaret has better luck when she catches Graves' attention and she both makes the sale and becomes the object of Graves' obsession. Profits from the invention make the Bensons wealthy; however Graves schemes to steal Margaret from Jerry by swindling them out of their money and getting Broadway floozy Gloria to break up their marriage.
- In the colony of Salem, Faith dumps her current boyfriend Jim Farley for newcomer Richard Crewe. Seeking revenge, Jim accuses innocent Faith of witchcraft, which lands her in jail with a death sentence of burning at the stake. She is saved in the nick of time when the new Governor arrives, who fortunately does not believe in capital punishment for witchcraft, pardons her. Faith and Jim are banished and set off into the wilds of the new world to make their own life together.
- Innocent co-ed Dixie is unjustly expelled for unladylike activities by college chairman John Neil, who also happens to be the local District Attorney. Dixie uses an employment agency to unknowingly land a job with Neil's attorney son Bruce. A romance develops between the two until they go to meet the old man, who promptly forces Dixie to break up with Bruce because of her 'sordid' past. Bruce will have none of it, so to get him to drop her she attempts to get 'caught' in an innocent date with her employment agency contact, Haines. Unfortunately, Haines has different ideas about their encounter and will not take "no" for an answer so Dixie is forced to clock him with an urn, killing him. Dixie's trial for murder leads to a courtroom confrontation between father and son, with her fate resting in the balance.
- Two bumbling thieves are stealing a plumber's equipment when a call comes in for a plumbing job at a rich man's house. They decide to take the job for themselves but after arriving and casing the joint, the suspicious butler locks the pair in the basement with the house supply of liquor, which the thieves soon discover.
