- Arthur and Terry are initially surprised that the apparently confident and successful businessman Clive Cosgrove should be so apprehensive about getting married. Until, that is, the truth dawns on them. All of Clive's business concerns are run by manageresses and he is already married to all of them.
- Muriel Standen calls upon Terry's services as a bodyguard when her teenage son John is beaten up by local thugs and Terry ends up taking the lad to and from school. John's father Ted is a wealthy property developer and it soon transpires that his ex-business partner, recently out of jail, is behind the attacks on John as he feels cheated by Ted.
- Erica's secretary Lois meets the charming Clive Wright through a dating agency but he disappears whilst they are in a restaurant and the restaurant staff and dating agency workers are equally unhelpful as to whether he existed. Eddie is warned off by a woman called Maggie and her two sons but eventually manages to locate the elusive Mr. Wright and to discover what he has done to anger Maggie and her family.
- Call-girl Sarah Marshall kills herself on a beach, after stealing the car belonging to a man she had tried to contact, David Carn, popular DJ with Bristol radio station Radio West. Station boss Don Satchley asks private detective Eddie Shoestring to investigate any incriminating links between Carn and Sarah. Eddie is approached by a man named Willis, who tries to buy him off and is then beaten up by Willis's boss Barry Hendry. It is clear to Eddie that they are protecting one of Sarah's clients - not David Carn - and he must find out who.
- Colin MacGruder and Ray Stackpole, two Australians with the theme "Nice 'n' easy does it", commit eleven armed robberies, in each case stealing Kruger Rands purchased from the same firm, the managing director's secretary tipping them off as to the whereabouts of the coins. They also pay an informant to make it look as if Haskins is taking a bribe and plant money in his greenhouse, so that he is suspended. Regan traces the Kruger Rand connection but all the villains escape. However, the absence of witnesses means that Haskins is completely exonerated and reinstated.
- Detective Sergeant Taylor is shot and wounded, and names his informant, Jimmy Park, as pulling the trigger. Regan visits Park's girl-friend Eve, who says that Taylor was corrupt, and gives her tail the slip in order to give money to Park, who is lying low in an old disused warehouse. Regan eventually tracks him down and more shots are fired. At the same time Haskins is having problems with his wife as she starts to lose her grip on reality and live in the past.
