Maki becomes curious about Soichi Akiguni and decides to go to her hometown Izumo in Shimane Prefecture. There, she meets a young fisherman.
- Lafcadio HEARN visited Japan as a newspaper reporter in 1890. Within the same year, he found a job as an English language teacher at a local town, Matsue. - Kazuya Hirai (Kaku Kento) is a young man that delivers newspapers in a small village in Tottori Prefecture. He lost his father at an early age and lives with his mom. One day, something happens that causes Hirai to run away from home. He spends the night in Yonago and meets by chance a girl named Gikue (Maeda Aki) who worked for his mother a long time ago. Hirai spends the night at Gikue's apartment. The next day, Gikue brings home another man named Iwai Shoji (Nakamura Shido). Shoji was injured by gang members and this is how the three young people start to live together. At first Kazuya was unhappy with the arrival of Shoji, but after learning that Shoji was an ex-Japanese boxing champion became an admirer of him. Kazuya's father was also a boxer and there is a surprising relationship between Kazuya's father and Shoji.
