- Steve Balderson's movie, "Sex, Lies, and Sugar" focuses on a group of 1960's era suburban housewives. Close-knit and neighborly, they are all bent on one-upping each other, trying to prove that each is "the hostess with the mostess." They begin a recipe club, holding dinner parties, testing out their new casseroles. But when the gatherings become increasingly boozy and flirtatious, more than recipes start getting swapped. The story moves from stylized and campy to a drama about irresponsibility, selfishness, and damaged people. "Sex, Lies, and Sugar" is raw and uncompromising, evocative of classics like "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" and the more contemporary "American Beauty."
- A young boy who lives in a dysfunctional home went to the carnival and met a singer. Shortly after, a murder took place. The town's sheriff is seeking answers. The singer is trying to escape her environment so is the boy. But both has to face their own horror.
- Beautiful young Daisy feels stuck working as a shopgirl by day and caring for her ailing mother by night. A suicide gone wrong leaves Daisy wrongly imprisoned, while the neighbor whose testimony put her away struggles with guilt. A tongue-in-cheek homage to 1950s women-in-prison films.
- Cherry wants to be a prom queen. Trouble is, she's not nominated. Double trouble is, she's not like the other girls. She'll stop at nothing, not even murder and mayhem, to get what she wants.
