Also known as "Séance de prestidigitation".
The second film made by George Méliès.
In 2014, the Cinémathèque Francaise received a donation: a fragment of chromolithographed animated film that was from an 1896 Méliès short, featuring him performing a conjuring trick which was part of an act he performed at his Théâtre Robert-Houdin. Later, in 2015, they also received another discovery: the exact same short, this time in original black-and-white film. It was identified the same year, by the film scholar Jacques Malthête, as this film.
