22-year old New York bank clerk and Columbia University student William A. Friedle submitted and, reportedly, sold five scenarios to Century Comedies. Three were to be Buddy Messinger scripts and two were for Baby Peggy scripts. "Back Home and Soaked " was this scenario that Friedle submitted and then was commissioned to write the script for as "The Orphan." After production wrapped, the release title was changed from "The Orphan" to "Nobody's Darling." Purportedly, Friedle was then offered a position by Julius and Abe Stern as head of scenarios for Century which was apparently declined.
