Dismal marital farce with "hilarious" complications; played for speed, thankfully
supercurmudgeon15 June 2007
As close to a complete waste of time as was produced during the silent period. Some have called this film "painless." It certainly is mind-numbing. If watching endless badly structured farce situations, lots of pointless running in and out of French windows, and contemplating the fatuous motivations of sub-moronic upper class twits is your cup of tea, this is your film. You'll find it a treat. Seems like an epic, but when you stir yourself at the end you'll be amazed at how little time has passed; almost like W.C. Fields's proverbial "week in Philadelphia one Sunday." As usual with films of this merit, photography is good and the extant prints sparkle.
