For his first time out with the “Star Wars” universe, Rian Johnson populated “The Last Jedi” with a slew of new and old friends and foes, including several creature standouts: the adorable Porgs, the elegant Vulptices, the majestic Falthiers, the sinister Snoke, and the return of Master Yoda.

Harvey Weinstein has denied trying to derail the careers of Mira Sorvino and Ashley Judd after director Peter Jackson claimed the disgraced producer attempted to prevent the two women from starring in his Lord of the Rings franchise.
In a statement issued on Saturday to People, a spokesperson for Weinstein renounced the accusations against Weinstein and his brother, Bob.

Decades before the slew of sexual misconduct allegations arose against Harvey Weinstein, actor Jason Priestley allegedly had a run-in with him that led to Priestley punching the disgraced movie mogul in the face.
On Friday, the Beverly Hills, 90210 star, 48, recounted the incident on Twitter first revealed by actress Tara Strong, who suggested Weinstein might have tried to derail Priestley’s career after the fight in the same way Weinstein allegedly had done to whistleblowers Mira Sorvino and Ashley Judd.

In the over 90 sexual harassment and abuse accusations made against Harvey Weinstein, one of the most consistent claims alleged that Weinstein would threaten the careers of the actresses who refused his advances. Mira Sorvino is one of Harvey Weinstein’s accusers, and according to directors such as Peter Jackson and Terry Zwigoff, Weinstein and his brother did just that.

There have been a ton of allegations against Harvey Weinstein and a lot of them revolve around him blacklisting actresses that didn't do the things he wanted to do. Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson recently spoke out against Weinstein and confirmed that he actively prevented actresses Ashley Judd and Mira Sorvino from being cast in Lord of the Rings.
Both actresses previously shared that they were sexually harassed by Weinstein and that they were denied roles because they crossed him in ways that he didn't like. Now Jackson has confirmed that he didn't hire the actresses because of the negative things Weinstein said about them.
Before Jackson directed the Middle Earth films at New Line, he was in talks to develop it for Weinstein's Miramax. During an interview with Stuff, Jackson explained that he had expressed interest in casting both actresses in Lotr, but he recalls, "Miramax telling...

Mira Sorvino and Ashley Judd are speaking out against Harvey Weinstein, following director Peter Jackson’s claim that the producer and his brother Bob Weinstein attempted to prevent the two women from starring in his Lord of the Rings franchise.

Peter Jackson has broken his silence on the sexual harassment and abuse allegations against Harvey Weinstein. The Oscar-winning director revealed to the New Zealand news publication Stuff that he removed Ashley Judd and Mira Sorvino’s names from “The Lord of the Rings” casting list after a meeting with Weinstein.
Jackson was pitching his idea for the J. R. R. Tolkien adaptation to Miramax in 1998 and met with Bob and Harvey Weinstein, who told him both Sorvino and Judd were “a nightmare to work with.”

Happy Wednesday "Bold And The Beautiful" fans. So, today's December 13,2017 episode for the most part was pretty dull. We just saw more of Bill and Steffy lying to Liam over and over again. Then overly expressed their love for him out of a sense of extreme guilt. We also got more of those annoying Bill and Steffy affair flashback scenes. Fortunately for us all, tomorrow's Thursday, December 14,2017 episode seems like it'll have a little more interesting plotlines going on. For at least some of the episode, they will shift us back to the Thorne-out-to-get-Ridge storyline. On a bit of a down note, we're going to see more of this Steffy and Liam bliss that's built on a lie. They will end up making love again at the cliff house. CBS's official description tells us, "Steffy and Liam delight in their reunion and savor every moment together as they make love at the cliff house.

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)
This week’s question: What’s the best documentary series you’ve seen on TV? Opening this up to past series, current ones, and those that you may have seen screeners for that are coming up soon.
Liz Shannon Miller (@lizlet), IndieWire
While we debate whether or not it technically counts as a TV show (certainly that Oscar it won would suggest otherwise), “O.J.: Made in America” was without question a seminal work, and one which owed a lot to its episodic structure while proving to be an addictive binge. Documentaries aren’t exactly my favorite genre, but “Made in America” was as gripping as any scripted series — and we have definitive proof of this,...

Todd Brown tendered his resignation as Fantastic Fest’s international programmer, one week before the festival’s 13th edition, and his reasons are damning. His decision came after he (along with the public and other members of the film community) discovered that, months ago, Alamo founder Tim League secretly rehired Devin Faraci. The former editor in chief of the Drafthouse’s film site, Birth.Movies.Death, Faraci resigned last October following allegations of sexual assault — allegations that Faraci did not deny.
Brown, who spent a decade as a Fantastic Fest programmer, said the decision was “emotionally difficult by the sad fact that it was not difficult at all. It was essential… While I do not believe there was any malice in the decision to bring Faraci back there was, however, a clear, undeniable and arguably even callous disregard for the impact of this decision on anyone not named Devin Faraci.

For many, the story of Fleetwood Mac begins with the 1974 arrival of Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, the talented yet combustible American duo who ignited an explosive string of hits that continue to define the band. But Mick Fleetwood wants to move past those rumors. Fans of the group’s pop jewels would hardly recognize their original incarnation as one of the most respected British blues bands of the ’60s. Now the founding drummer is telling the tale of those formative years in Love That Burns: A Chronicle of Fleetwood Mac, Volume One 1967–1974, a lavish new book by Genesis Publications due out Sept.

Whoomp there it is was one of the absolute favorite songs of cheerleaders and jocks alike because it had a power all its own that made you move and got the adrenaline pumping in such a way that you just wanted to stay active for the entire track. Tag Team was featured in so many films and TV shows that eventually the song did wear a little thin but not so much that it was hated for any period of time. Every now and then it comes back and it’s welcomed with open arms to those that hear it. Here

Usually all I need is a conversation sparker, or even someone remotely interested in listening. When I’m musing over all those conversations, there’s no doubt about it that the most difficult recommendations to make are the gateway horror films.
There’s several reasons why even the most solid recommendation maker is going find the gauntlet thrown down when asked about “starter” horror flicks. It’s a delicate situation that has to be handled with the most absolute contemplation and finesse. I could throw any film out to a hardcore horror fan without any concern for the subject matter, it just has to be good.

The show can’t help but go on.
If there is one show from last year I didn’t expect to see renewed for a second season, it’s The Circus: Inside the Greatest Political Show on Earth. Unlike neatly wrapped programs like Stranger Things and Fleabag, Showtime’s documentary series seemed to have a guaranteed stopping point. The Circus began with the intent to follow the 2016 presidential race, through the analytical coverage of John Heilemann, Mark Halperin, and Mark McKinnon, from the road to the Iowa caucus to Election Day.
Even while everything about the content of the show was insanely unpredictable, one thing was certain: the series finale would be the November 13th episode responding to the results of which candidate won the White House. Doubt can be a dangerous emotion.
It can ruin friendships, relationships, and lives when given too much power.
Doubt Season 1 Episode 1 gave us our first look at what has potential to be a very intriguing series.
The premise, of course, is doubt.
Very few cases are clear cut. Even if someone is found not guilty, doubt still exists unless there is physical evidence.
Exonerated people often have to live the rest of their lives wondering whether their families and friends believe they are guilty.
So, while giving his blood may not have been the wisest legal move for his defense, it's hard to blame Billy for wanting to do it. Physical evidence is terribly hard to deny, and he said how important it is to him that Sadie believes he's innocent.
Personally, I'm already invested in his case and their relationship. I can't wait to find out what those test results reveal.

Made for a tiny fraction of After Earth's investment, it marked something of a turning point for the writer-director: tense, quirky and at times blackly amusing, it was Shyamalan's lowest-budget film since the 90s, and also his most warmly received piece since 2002's Signs.

Durst was the subject of the project, which chronicled a years-long investigation of his suspected involvement in the deaths of his first wife, Kathleen, who disappeared in 1982; as well as that of friend Susan Berman and two other possible murders.

Robert Durst, the subject of the true crime documentary series The Jinx on HBO, told Los Angeles prosecutors in an interview last year that he was high on methamphetamines during portions of his interviews for the show, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Durst, 73, agreed to a nearly three-hour interview with prosecutors after his arrest on March 14, 2015, and said he “had to be… swooped” and “speeding” during some of the more than 20 hours of interview he gave during the filming of The Jinx.
“I was on meth, I was on meth the whole time,” he said, according to a transcript obtained by The Times.

Having seen and admired his work on several features, I could’ve only assumed that cinematographer Steve Yedlin is well-acquainted with his profession, yet I found myself surprised when digging into his presentation at this year’s Camerimage International Film Festival, “On Image Acquisition and Pipeline for High-Resolution Exhibition.” Fortunately, those who were not in Poland can (and should) dig in with “On Color Science,” an extensive piece in which he runs through the tiny, tiny nuances that create various balances in any given image — and it’s not as simple as film vs. digital.
There is, of course, also the fact of his being Rian Johnson‘s regular cinematographer, including a new feature tentatively titled Star Wars: Episode VIII. That is covered in due time, though the broader discussion we were having up to that point proved so engaging, and often so assertive, in its authority that I didn’t want to distract.

There it is: the third and final domestic trailer for “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” This thing is absolutely covered in new footage — very little of it, in fact, is recycled from previous trailers. That makes this last “Rogue One” trailer pretty unusual in that there’s plenty of stuff we didn’t know before to glean from it. So let’s do that now. 1. It’s gonna have at least one flashback This is a relatively new phenomenon in “Star Wars” movies, but “The Force Awakens” had one and now “Rogue One” does as well — that’s two of two in the.

Who killed Sarah Keaton?
Notorious Season 1 Episode 1 builds the groundwork for this overarching story of the season and provides just enough leeway that we see how the other episodes will work.
I'll always miss CIA Agent Annie Walker, but Julia George is great in her own way. We don't know where she's come from, but she has clearly clawed her way to the top and will do whatever it takes to stay there, though surprisingly, she's not mean.
Julia: I'm not sure I can do this.
Louise: You're a tough ass bitch, you can do anything.

She's blunt, focused, and determined, but she's not purposefully mean, and she won't go behind the backs of everyone around her. Her partnership with Jake is a sign of this because, even as she keeps the facade that she is blind-siding him,...

Sarah Paulson and Holland Taylor didn't attend the Emmys together – they weren't even on the same coast during the broadcast. But, somehow, they still managed to be the cutest couple of the evening.

Paulson didn't attend the night stag – instead, she brought the real-life Marcia Clark, who Paulson was nominated (and won) for portraying in The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.

Sarah Paulson and Holland Taylor are head over heels for one another. On Sunday, Sarah attended the Emmys in La, and although Holland was not in attendance, she sure wasn't going to miss out on her girlfriend's big night. Shortly after the American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson actress hit the red carpet with the real-life Marcia Clark, Holland took to Twitter to gush over her other half, writing, "Having a heart attack..." On Monday, news broke about all about the possibilities for rebooting the original Nicktoons. Rugrats folks are in. Ren & Stimpy, not quite. And then there's Doug. Both the character Doug and the eponymous series itself have always seemed to exist at the whims of other, more powerful people – and as such, series creator Jim Jinkins says the show's current rights-holder, Disney, doesn't seem to have much interest in bringing Doug back for more Bluffington bliss.
But Jinkins certainly hopes Disney changes its mind, and he's fully prepared for when they do.

“Being dead is not the same thing as not existing — many things exist that are dead. Indeed, I would argue that many of the greatest things that exist are dead and this is not necessarily a bad thing.” — James Schamus
In November of 2014, a little more than a year after he had been fired from his long-time job as the CEO of Focus Features, James Schamus was invited to the German Film Academy to give a speech about the future of cinema. Naturally, the underlying assumption of the event was that it had one.
The talk began on a routine note, as Schamus name-checked Theodor Adorno, bridged the gap between George Méliès and Christopher Nolan, and pushed through the obligatory references to the rise of Netflix and the fall of DVD. And then, reaching the fifth point of a lecture that he had split into 23 discrete fragments, Schamus reframed the conversation,...

For nearly two decades, Keegan-Michael Key has been tirelessly chiseling out a successful path in comedy. Name a standout sitcom from “Reno 911” to “How I Met Your Mother,” “Parks and Recreation” to “It’s Always Philadelphia,” “Modern Family,” “The Muppets” or “Ricky and Morty,” and Key has popped by to add his hilarious flare. The path began back in 2004 when he was cast on “MADtv,” and eventually led to he and castmate Jordan Peele spawning their own sketch show, the critically heralded and sharply satirical “Key and Peele.”
Through all of the above, Key has shown himself to be one of the boldest and most entertaining comedy performers working today. But in his new film, “Don’t Think Twice,” the funny man smoothly slides into drama. Which turns out to be an important next step for the challenge Key’s looking to take on next.

Chicago – One observation…when ‘The Bfg” was written in 1982 by iconic children’s author Roald Dahl, little did he know that acronyms would become the way we talk. When I first saw that title, I wondered what that “F” stood for. It’s “Friendly,” by the way, which is perfect for this film.
Rating: 3.5/5.0
This is a big, sweet and friendly valentine to the source, both the book and Roald Dahl (who also wrote “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,’ featuring Willy Wonka), and is directed impeccably by Steven Spielberg. It is a bit of a throwback to the old kid-and-giant-films (like 1958’s “Tom Thumb”) of Spielberg’s youth, because while it’s done with the latest computer techniques, there is still use of miniatures and perspective techniques to illuminate the gigantic perspective. Mark Rylance portrays the title character, and does it with a wide-eyed wonder that is never saccharin, which...

Pottermore.com has released the first images from the Harry Potter update Harry Potter And The Cursed Child with Jamie Parker as Harry, Poppy Miller as his wife, Ginny, and Sam Clemmett as Harry’s troubled son Albus.
The previews of both Parts 1 and 2 of the West End play written by Jack Thorne are coming next week, but these portraits give a right peek at the characters, and their resemblance to the actors who played them in the Harry Potter film series is uncanny. J.K. Rowling herself said about Parker: “He simply is Harry now. There’s a kind of relief in watching him, he gets it so right.” High praise from the person who knows both Harry and his universe better than anyone!

Something that's dogged the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in certain critical and fan circles, is a feeling of sameness. While no one can deny that the Marvel Studios formula is working like a charm, there does seem to be a sense that it's all sort of safe, devoid of risk, and all kind of fits within the same mold. This is why, in a world where "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," it's fairly noteworthy that Marvel honcho Kevin Feige is trying to get out in front of that sentiment by telegraphing that things are on the cusp of a major change.

Chiwetel Ejifor is a very talented actor that we rarely see in big budget films. Compared to others in his field, he mainly keeps a low profile, sticking to films that are a part of the real world, films that aren't to crazy or out there. He was in a film about a nuclear apocalypse where everyone was dead, then a film where his a criminal, and also a film where he had to help save a man stuck on Mars. But he hasn't been in a movie like Doctor Strange, a film which will possibly turn the comic book movie genre over on its head.
Chiwetel Ejiofor was in an interview with Collider and talked about a number of films he has and is currently working on, such as Triple 9, Z For Zachariah, and Doctor Strange. So when talking about the upcoming comic book film, Ejiofor explained just...

A decade after starting their TV careers at Saturday Night Live, the Lonely Island is getting a Saturday-night sketch show of their very own. The Hollywood Reporter writes that the comedy threesome will collaborate with Paul Scheer in producing a half-hour sketch comedy series for Fox called Party Over Here. The title comes from the name of the group's "development venture" with the network and also, possibly, "Whoomp! (There It Is)." None of the Lonely Island guys will be a part of the show's ensemble — which so far includes Nicole Byer, Jessica McKenna, and Alison Rich — nor will they be directly competing with SNL, as Poh will air at eleven. Still, if Lorne Michaels takes this news better than Johnny Carson did, we'll know late-night really is a nicer place.

The alarm clock cries in my bedside table. 8am. Right, here we go. Grab clothes for yet another day, don’t forget the body soap, the moisturizer and the black mascara and off I go to start my daily ritual lively practiced inside my tiny toilet. Repetitive motions are evoked…teeth are washed, hair is brushed, boot laces are entwined around my unreliable feet, eggs are scrambled in the tormented pan, coffee is brewed, lights are shut, doors are locked, and a cigarette is delightedly lit—all as if I was skimming through the prologue of a novel I have lazily read too many times before. My feet move to the rhythm of the rain incessantly falling on the grey pavement and my bones fear the unpredictability of what may come in the following hours, but I never stop. I never do. (…) The ritual has somehow turned into tradition and...
