The cat seen at the beginning of the film was named "Whitey". He was purchased by well-known film animal trainer Henry East from a Hollywood pet shop for twenty-five cents. By 1935, the year of this film, the cat was under contract with RKO and was making $125 per week - the equivalent of nearly $2,400 per week in 2020.
