- After being fired from their jobs, three friends decide to enter an amateur contest at a radio station.
- Three young girls working in an agency have build a singing trio. They want to 'lease' the dictaphone of their boss to make a record of their singing, but they are caught and fired. When they are not able to pay their rent any longer, they decide to try it on an amateur contest at a radio station. Due to lack of food Susan Moore becomes unconscious and the contest is won by a big band. - Dixie Dean, Daphne O'Connor and Susan Moore are fired from their jobs at the Mint Julep Factory, and they decide to try their luck as a singing trio in an amateur-hour contest on the radio. They lose to "Tops" Cardona and his band, but he is impressed, takes them in hand, renames them the Sewannee Sisters, and rides to the top with them supplying most of the fare.
