Sex & Nudity
-
- Esmeralda's necklines, while never "plunging," occasionally reveal cleavage. In one scene Frollo persistently looks into Esmeralda's neckline, getting pleasure by that.
- Frollo pulls Esmeralda in front of a wall, declaring his feelings. Esmeralda runs away from him, even if he had no raping intention.
- Gringoire and Esmeralda are "married" by Clopin and escorted off to be left alone in the bridal chamber. (The relationship remains platonic.)
- Esmeralda and Phoebus sneak into the woods, apparently with the intention of having sex. Events conspire to stop their lovemaking.
Violence & Gore
-
- Timbers, stones, and molten metal are flung down upon a mob. Several shots show people dying/dead in molten metal. A character is flung from a great height. Two characters are narrowly saved from the hangman's noose.
Profanity
Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking
Frightening & Intense Scenes
-
- Many gripping but frightening/intense scenes throughout, including but not limited to Quasimodo's freakish appearance. One example: A scene in which Gringoire is accosted by thieves in the dark (one of them grotesquely crawling toward him through the mud whining "Penny, sir?") could be frightening to children.
