Finding rich outcroppings of silver on a promontory which separates the Dan Kenyon and Mark Rawlins ranches, Kenyon ranch foreman Lash Bender gets land agent Bert Karsin to attempt to negotiate the purchase of the two spreads. Jeff Douglas, son of Kenyon's former partner, arrives and suspects Karsin's motives. Learning that Rawlins is in need of money, Jeff persuades Kenyon to loan his old friend the money, but Lash has plans to steal it. Kenyon drives his buckboard to the promontory, where Lash kills the old rancher and, to make his death appear an accident, pushes the buckboard over the cliff. Now co-owner of the ranch, according to the will, with Kenyon's daughter Janey, Jeff finds evidence of murder. Suspecting Karsin and Lash, Jeff and Janet stage a quarrel. Jeff is captured by Lash but escapes. Then Rawlins, saying he and Janet are willing to sell, leads Karsin to where Jeff is hiding. The range-owners sign the necessary papers, and Karsin pays them with the money Lash had taken from Kenyon. They overpower Karsin, but are then captured by Lash, who makes them prisoners and he and Karsin head back to town to file the signed deeds of sale.
