Another classic short
This time round Norman McLaren literally does what the title says, to a fast paced boogie woogie tune he intertwines the movement on screen and the rhythm of the soundtrack, giving us a Boogie Doodle. Similar in its concept to "Lines Horizontal" and "Lines Vertical", it may be short but you won't want to blink

Boogie-Doodle (1948)

*** (out of 4)

If there was ever a film that delivered the goods on what a title promised it was this Norman McLaren short. Basically we have a boogie song playing in the background as various shapes take form on the screen.

McLaren was the master of experimental images so trying to describe his work is often hard to do. The best way to break it down is that there's what appears to be a ball bouncing around to the music while various other animated images are moving. There's certainly nothing ground-breaking here and it's not going to appeal to everyone but I found it to be quite original and entertaining. The animation itself blends in well with the soundtrack and makes for a nice picture.

breath taking. absolutely amazing

This breath-taking cinematic epic will both astonish and shock you as you watch this VHS in your VHS player. I cry every time I watch it, it is just amazing. I cannot remember at the moment who the director was but i will forever cherish that person in my heart. Sometimes my heart stops beating whilst i watch this epic. Only a great, no not great, but a mastermind,....only a mastermind could produce this wonder. I do not know that this is still reproduced, but i recommend trying to import it from somewhere or try to buy it used. please i'm begging you. If you ever get the chance, this will be a wonderful experience, though you will probably cry. not because it's a great movie, but because it's not in color and the picture is not very good.
