"Well, now, I wouldn't say that" - the punchline of this film - was the catch phrase of the character Peavey, the druggist, on the popular radio show, "The Great Gildersleeve".
The premise of this cartoon is very similar to Beaky Buzzard's debut cartoon Bugs Bunny Gets the Boid (1942) with Bugs Bunny, and the opening scene of this cartoon is nearly identical to that in the earlier film.
World War Two had just concluded, so adult cinema audiences would have appreciated the Army Air Corps sight gags of the buzzard children. And Mama Buzzard's vaguely Italian accent and demeanor might have made many a former GI smile.
Although the small elephant insists that it's not Dumbo, the character was certainly a nod to the Disney classic. The pachyderm appeared in several WB shorts of this era.
