Warning: Spoilers
"Sun Valley Cyclone" , an entry in Republic's long running Red Ryder series, is unique in that it works none other than Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders into the story.

Red Ryder (Wild Bill Elliott) and his pal Little Beaver (Bobby Blake) have trailed outlaw Blackie Blake (Roy Barcroft) to a sleepy little town. Blake is disguised and listens in on Red's conversation with the local sheriff. He then attempts to shoot Red, but Red's horse Thunder attacks Blake. In order to prevent Thunder from being accused as a man killer, Red flashes back to how he acquired Thunder.

Red had tried to join Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders. At Roosevelt's headquarters Red spots Thunder in the corral and asks to ride him. He manages to break the horse just as Roosevelt (Edward Cassidy) rides up. Impressed with Red's riding ability, Roosevelt trades Thunder for Red's horse. He then asks Red to return to Wyoming rather than enlist, to deal with a gang of horse rustlers that are stealing stock destined for the Rough Riders.

It turns out that Blackie Blake and his gang are responsible. Blake is working for rancher Major Harding (Eddy Waller) who is unaware of Blake's treachery. Harding is feuding with the "Duchess" (Alice Fleming) over the matter. Meanwhile, Thunder has become enamored with an all white mare but has to deal with the pinto stallion that leads the herd. Thunder breaks away from the corral and meets the pinto in combat over the mare.

Red eventually exposes Blake and his cronies Kenne Duncan and Edmund Cobb as those responsible for the trouble. A showdown ensues but Blake escapes and..................................................................

This was one of the last Elliott Red Ryders. He would soon be promoted to Republic;'s "A" features dropping the "Wild" from his name. Allen Lane would take over the series for a season before starring in his own Allen "Rocky" Lane series. Also in the cast are Rex Lease as Roosevelt's sergeant, George Chesebro as "Shorty" and up and comer Monte Hale as Jeff the cowpoke guarding the herd when they are stampeded.

As in most of Republic's westerns, this one is full of action. There is a street fight between Elliot and Barcroft and his men, a horse fight and stampede and gubfight. Since there was no leading lady in this one, it was left to Thunder to provide the romance.
