In the beginning the P-47s land with ordinance. That would never happen in reality. All bombs would be dropped before landing; in the sea if there were no targets. While standard operating procedure was to drop live ordnance prior to landing this was not always possible. The release could have malfunction and/or the bombs stuck in the attachment point. In these cases pilot's did what they believed best, including landing with bombs intact. In such cases all other aircraft would land first and go to revetments or other safe locations, then those with retained ordnance would land.
