While the American film "The Snow Creature" is often credited as the first film to feature the Yeti, this film was released four months earlier. The first yeti film out of the door, however, was probably George Melies's "Conquest of the Pole," released in 1919. That film featured a version of the yeti before its folklore was associated with human-like footprints, which is when Western explorers in the Himalayas gave it the name "the Abomidable Snowman."
