The werewolf, loup-garou, and the Lycanthrope are back in the brilliant thought-provoking film Wolfkin . Coming from the rich tradition of fiction such as Guy Endore’s 1933 seminal novel The Werewolf of Paris and the 1896 story The Were-wolf by Clemence Housman, this film is in my opinion an essential new addition to the werewolf film canon.
You can lump this film into the abyss of Folk Horror yet its just plain simple a damn good film from top to end credits because it tells an essential human story. Wolfkin (2022) a.k.a. Kommunioun is a Luxembourgian/French/Belgium production; directed by Jacques Molitor. The picture is elegantly shot and paced with true mastery and restraint, as does befit the subject matter of extreme, old-world control and remedy for the modern, uncontrolled animalistic urges.
Taking a cue from Hammer’s The Curse of the Werewolf (1961), Wolfkin (2022) reverses the fact that in that film,...

Movie legend Ridley Scott and Avatar director James Cameron both played a part in making the Alien franchise the iconic films they are today. There was speculation about the two teaming up to revisit the successful series. But Alien vs. Predator stood in the way of that team-up.

Alien vs. Predator was the fifth film in the Alien franchise. As the title suggests, the feature would pit two classic sci-fi horror creatures together in a blockbuster cinematic bout. It was a premise that Scott was against from the beginning.
“I think Alien vs. Predator was a daft idea,” Scott once told The Hollywood Reporter. “And I’m not sure it did very well or not, I don’t know. But it somehow brought down the beast. And I said to them,...

Riki Lindhome (Another Period) is set as a series regular opposite Amy Poehler in Fox’s animated family comedy Duncanville, from Poehler and her Paper Kite Productions, The Simpsons veteran Mike Scully and his wife, former Simpsons writer-producer Julie Scully, 20th Century Fox TV and Universal TV. It’s slated to premiere during the 2019-20 season.
Written by Mike and Julie Scully, Duncanville centers on Duncan (voiced by Poehler), a spectacularly average 15-year-old boy with a rich fantasy life and the people in his world.
Lindhome will play Kimberly, Duncan’s ]awkward, emotional, 12-year-old sister. She can hold grudges forever while waiting patiently for revenge. She sometimes says hurtful things but doesn’t get why people are upset because, “What? I’m just being honest.” All emotions all the time, nobody’s problems are bigger than hers. Kimberly fears that she is the forgotten middle child, and she’s not wrong.

Paul Naschy was arguably Spain's finest maker of horror movies, many of which were little seen.
It's been 10 years since the death of Paul Naschy, Spain's finest purveyor of horror, and it still seems somehow unreal and unfair. He was 75 years old and boasted an acting career that lasted from 1960 to only months before he died, with well over a hundred credits (often lead roles) to his name, yet Naschy still had so much to give. Despite suffering long-term depression and undergoing major heart surgery, his spirit, enthusiasm and unpretentious adoration of genre cinema made him feel irrepressible. I could well imagine his barrel-chested form wrestling the Grim Reaper into submission and stealing his gown as a prop for use in a later film but no, Naschy has gone...
Although in 2001 he was awarded the Gold Medal For Fine Arts (a Spanish equivalent of a knighthood), he...
