Pekka's and Pätkä's unbelievable journey
Petey-1025 April 2007
Pekka ja Pätkä salapoliiseina is a Finnish comedy from 50 years back (1957) directed by Armand Lohikoski.Lohikoski and Reino Helismaa are the writers and T.J. Särkkä is the producer. The original music is by Toivo Kärki. In the movie Pekka Puupää and Pätkä become private detectives who have to find the missing son of the general manager Leino. For Pekka and Pätkä there is no such a thing as mission impossible.Pekka Puupää was a comics character created by Ola Fogelberg in 1925.In movies Pekka and friends made in 1953.The critics don't seem to be too fond of Pekka and Pätkä movies but that doesn't stop me and plenty of other Finns liking these movies.Esa Pakarinen and Masa Niemi made a perfect couple to play these lovable characters.Siiri Angerkoski as Pekka's wife Justiina is brilliant.Armas Jokio as janitor Pikkarainen is great.Other actors in this movie include Anja Hatakka (Maija Kulo), Ami Lovén (Jussi Kulo), Veikko Linna (Johannes Kulo), Eino Kaipainen (manager Leino), Juhani Kumpulainen (Viljo Leino), Tauno Söder (Rainer Strand) and Lasse Saxelin (Lasse). They all do a fine job.Pekka and Pätkä have funny and unbelievable things happening in the movie. This is the movie where they walk from Helsinki to Savonlinna (!) with Pätkä dressed as a baby.Pätkä sings "Nosta jalkaa Pekka" as they move towards the boat.I have kept watching these movies ever since I was a kid.Me and my family had many laughs during the movie.
