Hogan played Pfc Kirby on 111 episodes of the long-running drama opposite Rick Jason, Vic Morrow and Pierre Jalbert. Robert Altman directed many episodes of the show, which was on the air from 1962-1967. It was not unfamiliar terrain: Hogan had been a staff sergeant in Japan during the Korean War.
Combat! was far from Hogan’s only credit.
He made his debut in the 1956 Anthony Quinn-starrer Man From Del Rio, Hogan worked steadily. He had multiple-epsisode arcs on The Rough Riders, Have Gun – Will Travel, Sea Hunt, Lock Up, Bat Masterson, The Lawman and The Rifleman.

Jan Merlin, who played villains in dozens of films and TV shows and good guys on Tom Corbett, Space Cadet and The Rough Riders, died Friday in Los Angeles, his family announced. He was 94.
In a painful year in England and Ireland in which he served as a "movable prop" and received no screen credit, Merlin donned masks and heavy makeup to portray several characters and substitute for Kirk Douglas, Tony Curtis, Frank Sinatra and others in John Huston's The List of Adrian Messenger (1963). He then wrote a 2001 novel, Shooting Montezuma, based on that experience.

In what is absolutely the strangest, and saddest, story I've reported lately, the mummified body of actress, singer and pinup model Yvette Vickers has been found in her Benedict Canyon home. It is expected she died of natural causes.
Apparently, Vickers, who appeared in 1950s cult faves such as Attack of the 50 Foot Woman and Attack of the Giant Leeches, died a year ago at age 82, but no one realized it until a concerned neighbor, Susan Savage, noticed her mail piling up last week. Savage then forced open a barricaded front gate, scaled a hillside, climbed through a broken window and pushed past piles of "clothes, junk mail and letters" to reach her, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Vickers was discovered by filmmaker Billy Wilder, who gave her a small role in the classic Sunset Boulevard. She snagged a few decent films such as Hud, opposite Paul Newman,...

Actress and former Playboy Playmate Yvette Vickers' mummified body was found in her Beverly Hills home last week -- nearly a year after her death.
Vickers was best known for her bit roles in 1950's B-movies like 'Attack of the 50-Foot Woman' and was the Playboy Playmate of the Month in July 1959. She also appeared in 1963's 'Hud' with Paul Newman and in TV series like 'Dragnet' and 'The Rough Riders.'
The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Vickers, 82, had not been seen for several months when actress Susan Savage, a neighbor, went to check on her after noticing old letters and cobwebs in her mailbox.
Savage said, "The letters seemed untouched and were starting to yellow. I just had a bad feeling."
