They want to capture the animals live but are prepared to be brutal in the way they go about it. Tarzan is particularly upset when they kill a mother elephant so can take her baby. Tarzan manages to free all of the captured animals, but the trappers then decide on a new prey: Tarzan himself.—garykmcd
