- Davy Cooper is a law-abiding but down on his luck explosives expert. A chance meeting with a former comrade leads the naive Cooper into a world of crime and ultimately prison. On release though the chance to make amends presents itself.
- When a law-abiding demolition expert is duped by a gang of criminals into helping them he is caught and jailed. When he is released he goes straight and then notices a leading citizen in his town is cheating his neighbours.—Steve Crook <steve@brainstorm.co.uk>
- Several years in the recent life of Davy Cooper is told as a flashback from he attending a dedication ceremony of the newly built English seaside town of Goodwill, where, purportedly, the residents are the happiest on Earth. His story begins when he is down-and-out in London, what changing his trajectory being running into an old war colleague, Danny, who offers him a position in his organization. It isn't until Danny's boss Adolf divulges the nature of the work using Davy's military expertise in explosives that Davy discovers that Adolf, Danny and their group are a bunch of crooks specializing in robberies. Knowing too much, Davy has no option but to join their group despite being a law-abiding citizen deep in his heart which does not change over the course of his association with them. But during that association, Davy will also learn that in addition to their traditional blue collar crime, there is also white collar crime which is a little more hidden but none the less insidious. In white collar crime often hitting the common person, Davy figures that some old fashioned larceny is the best way to combat the white collar crime of which he is aware. He needing to reconcile his perpetrating all this crime against his law abiding heart may take someone for whom to go straight once and for all.—Huggo
