Good Finnish comedy with great actors
Petey-107 July 2010
Jakob Ryhtilä has been the office manager of Imupainepuristin Oy for twenty years.Vilhelm, who has inherited the corporation from his father, gives Jakob a gold watch.Things start to change in Jakob's life, since as he returns home he finds a flautist spending time with his wife. She wants a divorce. Also Vilhelm has embezzled 10 million marks and asks Jakob to take the blame so that the bad deal could be broken.Jakob takes the blame since he has nothing to lose.Soon Jakob becomes a ladies' man, thanks to Vilhelm's wife and the girl of the office.Miljoonavaillinki (1961) is directed by Toivo Särkkä.It's based on Mika Waltari's play.Helge Herala is fantastic as Yrmylä, who keeps checking his watch even when he's kissing his wife. And the wife is played by the wonderful Ansa Ikonen, who gives her last performance in a Finnish movie.Jussi Jurkka is terrific as Vilhelm. And so is Liana Kaarina as Vanda.Pentti Siimes is brilliant as the bus boy, with and without the fake mustache.Pirkko Mannola does good job as Miss Repola.Leevi Kuuranne is great as flautist Resku Aapola.A great performance by Leo Riuttu, who plays Judge Heitto.Risto Mäkelä is hilarious as Band Member.Laila Rihte is seen in the movie as Konttoristi.Unto Salminen plays the manager of Epäkesko Oy.Ossi Runne is Trumpetisti. This is an entertaining comedy that runs very smoothly. It is fun to watch Jakob's transition from this strict working man to fun loving guy.A good Finnish comedy.
