Robert Flemyng took the part after reading an early script entitled Raptus. When he found out later it involved necrophilia he tried to quit.
The filming location, Villa Peruchetti, 21 Via Pietro Paulo Rubens, Rome, Lazio, Italy is the present home of the Bulgarian Embassy.
The film is said by those involved to have been hurriedly shot in as little as 14 days with second units filming close-ups and cutaways to save time.
