The Pink Flyboy
ccthemovieman-120 April 2007
What do you do when you're just walking around and you see an X-13 fighter plane sitting there in an "experimental proving grounds?" Why, you run over, hop in and go for a ride, even if you don't know how to fly! That's the highly-unlikely setup here with this Pink Panther cartoon.

Hey, it's a cartoon we don't ask what he was doing walking at a high-security place or why there was no security there.....we, like the Panther, just go along for the ride. And, if all that didn't make any sense, you should see the rest of the animated short - it makes NO sense. It's just sheer lunacy which is fun to watch but yet I never really laughed once. You are interested to see what crazy thing will happen next with the Panther and the plane, but you're not going to get a lot of laughs out of this, maybe because it repeats too many of the same gags. Still, it was fun, especially with the plane diving through the big city.

Flying high
CuriosityKilledShawn20 June 2006
Pinky is aimlessly strolling through the countryside when he happens upon an Air Force base testing a new fighter jet called the X-13. Fancying himself as a stunt pilot, Pinky hops in and takes her for a ride. But since he hasn't a clue on how to fly a plane it goes crazy in mid-air.

Although it basically repeats the same joke over and over it's funny seeing Pinky's expression as he zooms away from earth and repeatedly falls out of the plane. The last gag is also rather amusing as he's chased out of the base by MPs.

An above average Pink Panther cartoon.

Doesn't soar as highly as it could have done, but doesn't crash to a thud either

The Pink Panther cartoons were childhood favourites that still make for great entertainment value. Some of the later ones were a little lacking, but even the weakest ones are nowhere near the worst cartoons ever. Most of them are very good and lots of fun, while the best of them are fantastic. Jet Pink is one of the above average ones, and around the middling mark, neither among the best or the worst. There are some amusing moments, the ending gag was funny, but the gags at their best are never hilarious and humour-wise Jet Pink can feel rather repetitive. The pacing can lack crispness and vitality sometimes as a result, while the story is routine and there is not that much surprise of what was going to happen next. It is well animated though, Pinky has been better drawn but looks good and it is colourful and simple. The music is also a winner, no surprises there as the music is always one of the Pink Panther cartoons' best assets. The music in the cartoon itself accompanying the gags and action is jazzy and has a subtle energy to it. And the theme tune? Even though it's one that can be heard umpteen times it still is very infectious. Pinky is cool and likable as well as having the ability to carry his cartoons easily as you'd expect him to be, the nature of the gags and scenario doesn't allow him to be as funny as he can be but even then he still amuses. In conclusion, lacking but still worth the viewing. 6/10 Bethany Cox

Airman Panther!
OllieSuave-00713 September 2016
The Pink Panther walks onto an airfield for a tour and day dreams of himself being an Air Force pilot flying in one of the military jets. So, he gets in one, but soon finds out that the airplane is more than he can handle.

So, the entire cartoon is basically the Pink Panther riding in the military jet, swerving around uncontrollably, dodging city buildings and citizens. Therefore, there's not much other action going on here and not much funny scenes or gags that really stick out. The ending was somewhat funny though.

Some commentators give this picture too much credit . . .

Warning: Spoilers
. . . in claiming that it provided the germ of the idea that developed into a horrible attack on America 34 years later. True, JET PINK begins by faithfully depicting the lax security endemic through the 1900's and beyond then into the first two years of this Our Modern 21st Century that allowed if not encouraged hundreds of jet hijackings. True, JET PINK finds the purloined plane swooping below rooftop level above the streets of a major American city. True, JET PINK accurately depicts the panicked citizens of said metropolis transfixed by the shocking and dangerous aerial maneuvers being committed just above their heads. However, I have yet to see any proof that JET PINK was screened regularly in Saudi primary schools.

Living the High Life...

Pink Panther Odyssey Part XXX

Our protagonist boards a bizarre experimental jet and hijinks ensue - it's a bit sparse this one and lacks any real antagonist to give it punch but there's a real comfort in knowing Pink can just flap his arms and fly at a moments notice. Makes you wonder why he boarded the jet in the first place...
