James Gunn has a lot planned for the DC Universe, and a significant weight of it seems to lie in his upcoming animated series, Creature Commandos. There has been a lot of conversation around this seemingly minuscule series, which also happens to be setting up some of the most significant storylines in DC’s near future.
James Gunn’s Creature Commandos
One of the most unfortunate deaths in recent years has to have been that of Joel Kinnaman’s Rick Flag. It would seem that this painful wound is being ripped open again, as Flag’s father, Rick Flag Sr., is making his way into the franchise.
While many would be excited solely based on this news, it would seem that the character is entering the universe with one goal; revenge. Could Amanda Waller help Flag Sr. kill his son’s killer?
James Gunn Announced the Entry of Rick Flag Sr.

In early 2023, James Gunn and Peter Safran introduced their own rebooted universe called Dcu, presenting a full lineup of projects. The latest movie in the Dceu was ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,’ which achieved some success compared to most MCU movies released that year, which faced criticism and struggled at the box office. In January, Gunn and Safran revealed the initial projects of the Dcu slate, along with the team of writers: Drew Goddard, Jeremy Slater, Christina Hodson, Christal Henry, and Tom King.
They outlined a plan spanning eight to ten years, divided into chapters, with potential for expansion. The first chapter, ‘Gods and Monsters,’ included films like ‘Superman’ (originally ‘Superman: Legacy’), ‘The Authority,’ ‘The Brave and the Bold,’ ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,’ and ‘Swamp Thing,’ as well as television series like ‘Creature Commandos,’ ‘Waller,’ ‘Lanterns,’ ‘Paradise Lost,’ and ‘Booster Gold.’

With the recent reveal trailer for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra came a renewed sense of excitement from fans of the franchise. During the Epic Games panel at the Game Developers Conference fans finally discovered the official title for the game which was teased way back in 2022.
Although there isn’t much given away in terms of gameplay, the game being developed by Skydance New Media does show that in addition to the two main protagonists of Captain America and Black Panther, players will also be to play as one of the Howling Commandos and as a member of the Wakandan Spy Network. So there is sure to be plenty of variety in the play styles throughout.
Is the casting of Black Panther, another success?
Take on a variety of characters to battle the threat of Hydra
The reaction from fans following the trailer was positive but one thing that...

The next era of the DC Cinematic Universe is kicking into gear with news from "Creature Commandos," the weirdest upcoming title from the era of James Gunn and Peter Safran's leadership. The animated series brings back everyone's favorite disgusting creature Weasel alongside other wacky heroes like a mermaid doctor, the bride of Frankenstein, and *checks notes* military man Rick Flag Sr. Yes, Flag — the only member of the squad who could walk the streets without causing panic — is definitely the odd one out. The team of weirdos (and Rick Flag) are more than just their looks, though — they now have voices in the form of some very recognizable actors. The "Creature Commandos" voice cast has officially been unveiled to include David Harbour, Indira Varma, Alan Tudyk, Maria Bakalova, Zoe Chao, and more.
The news, first reported by Collider and later confirmed by Gunn on Twitter, also reveals that the...

The “Creature Commandos” can speak!
The animated series — which is set to premiere in 2024 as the first title in the new DC Universe headed by James Gunn and Peter Safran — unveiled its voice cast featuring David Harbour, Indira Varma, Alan Tudyk, Maria Bakalova, Zoe Chao, Steve Agee and more.
Varma will voice the show’s main protagonist, Bride of Frankenstein, a version of the classic horror character; Frank Grillo will play Rick Flag Sr., the father of Joel Kinnaman’s Rick Flag, Jr. from 2021’s “The Suicide Squad” (written and directed by Gunn); Harbour will voice Eric Frankenstein, a version of the classic monster and ostensible love interest for the Bride; Chao will voice Nina Mazursky, an amphibious scientist; Gunn will voice G.I. Robot, a military android; and Tudyk will voice Doctor Phosphorus, who is permanently radioactive (and often a Batman villain).

This post contains spoilers for "The Mandalorian" Chapter 23, "The Spies."
The latest episode of "The Mandalorian" was full of surprises, one of the biggest being the return — in a fashion — of the Imperial Super Commandos.
As the Mandalorians, led by Lady Bo-Katan Kryze, headed back to Mandalore in order to conquer and settle it once again in their own name, Moff Gideon sprung an elaborate trap to lure them in and destroy them once and for all. It didn't hurt that he had been operating a base on Mandalore for quite some time in order to steal the beskar from the planet and use it to outfit his own brand of Imperial Super Commandos — soldiers in white beskar armor with jetpacks who are loyal to the Empire. However, this isn't the first time they've been seen in "Star Wars" and with this episode ending on a cliffhanger, I doubt it will be the last.

Nl Film & TV and Avrotros’ Dutch contribution to this year’s digital Series Mania establishes in its first 30 seconds that it is far more than a typical war thriller.
Narrated with elegant editing that is both stylized and controlled, the series’ directors, Iván López Núñez and Hanro Smitsman, focus their attention on the peripheries that surround violence, and its haunting consequences.
The ten-hour show follows upstanding former Dutch Special Forces commander John de Koning (Werner Kolf) who still struggles with the traumas of a secret mission in Northern Nigeria which ended in the deaths of civilians and terrorists – only to save the life of a man who turned out to be a cruel pedophile.
After the man reappears in the Netherlands, now a sinister, threatening Nigerian Minister, the life of John and his platoon come under fire when John is put in charge of the Minister’s security.

Let.s go back a few years to Cap.s original glory days. He literally exploded on the comic scene in 1941 with Captain America Comics #1 from Timely Comics. That company had been trying to carve out a slice of the big super hero comics market pie since National Periodicals had caused a sensation with Superman in 1938 and Batman the following year. In 1939 they had a big seller with Marvel Mystery Comics #1 and introduced their two breakaway stars: The Human Torch and The Sub-Mariner. Who would come up with the next great super hero?...
