Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The theme of the film is that a woman murders her unsuspecting housekeepers in order to obtain their life savings as she is determined to maintain her extravagant life style and then buries their bodies beneath her newly-planted pine trees in the garden
  • Scenes can be quite frightening and intense as the woman appears to be unhinged; she often lets out a cold, callous laugh following each murder and shows no mercy to either an animal or a child
  • In addition to violently murdering her housekeepers and attacking a dog, she kills her final housekeeper by letting her drown in the passenger seat of her car as it is intentionally led into a secluded lake. She then attempts to kill a young woman and the woman's nephew by serving them drugged eggnog and setting their house on fire, with them inside
  • The eerie music in the film adds to its intensity
