Shirley MacLaine is adding a dose of Glee to her life. The Oscar winner will appear in several episodes as a New York socialite intent on making Blaine (Darren Criss) into a star, E! News has confirmed. MacLaine, who won an Oscar for Terms of Endearment, multiple Golden Globes and an Emmy, will make her Glee debut later in April 2014. MacLaine currently recurs on Downton Abbey as Martha Levinson, the mother to Cora (Elizabeth McGovern) and sassy sparring partner to the Dowager Countess (Maggie Smith). James Bond assistant director David C Anderson has died, aged 72.
The filmmaker worked as a unit production manager, producer and production executive in film and TV across decades.
He was the assistant director for three of the first four Bond movies - Dr No (1962), From Russia with Love (1963) and Thunderball (1965).
The son of Dam Busters director Michael Anderson, he started his film career at Pinewood Studios.
Anderson later worked with a number of top directors, including Terence Young, John Huston, Lewis Gilbert, John Sturges, Michael Cimino and Blake Edwards.
His films included The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, The Kremlin Letter, The Man Who Would Be King, The Eagle Has Landed, The Deer Hunter, Quadrophenia, Flash Gordon, Tequila Sunrise and What About Bob?
On TV, Anderson worked on several shows such as The Saint, Shirley MacLaine's Shirley's World, Diana: Her Real Story, Tales From the Crypt and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

Shirley MacLaine has had many big nights in her six-decade career, and this weekend, she shares one of the biggest.
The "Terms of Endearment" Oscar winner was feted by friends and peers ranging from Warren Beatty -- MacLaine's brother -- and Jack Nicholson to Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep when she became the 40th recipient of the American Film Institute's annual Life Achievement Award on Thursday, June 7. Taped at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, Calif., the event will be shown Sunday (June 24) on TV Land.
"There are people in that audience who weren't even alive when I did what I did when I started," MacLaine marvels to Zap2it about those in attendance. "I wonder what they think of me! It's been a long and varied career, and how it looks when it's all put together is a big part of this."
