Filming took place in Thailand for three months.
Olivia Hussey and Chris Mitchum worked fourteen-hour days in temperatures well over 112 degrees. They were also the only English speakers on the set. Hussey stated that she learned this while filming when the actor playing her father spoke his lines to her in Thai.
Olivia Hussey fell severely ill with dysentery toward the end of production. With a fever of 105 and against doctors' orders, she still managed to get on the set to finish her required scenes, with no delays in the productions schedule.
In her autobiography, Olivia Hussey said of the film: "It didn't really cover me in glory and is best left forgotten."
