Niles is lying in bed with his grandmother comforting him. In the close-up shots of his face, his hair is hanging in bangs in his face, but in long shots, his hair has been pushed back away from his forehead.
When Niles is talking to his mother, she drops her flowers and Niles hops down to pick them up. When he does so his small can of Prince Albert pipe tobacco falls to the floor spilling the contents. However, it can be seen that the contents had already been placed before the can hits the floor.
When Niles is talking to his mother in the front yard in 1935, a jet plane is heard going overhead.
Holland laughs as he leaves the room with the hydrocephalic baby, but his mouth doesn't move.
Although the story takes place in Connecticut, it betrays its California shooting location in the flashback scene to the boys' birthday. It is supposed to be the middle of March but all the trees in the yard are in full bloom as they never can be in late winter in New England.
