Sex & Nudity

  • It's strongly implied, a Carousel house is a cover for a brothel.
  • It also implied that the owner of the Carousel house and Henry are in a relationship.
  • A woman with no more than nipple covers on top greats Hooker and a girl Hooker, but she is only shown for a second and only shown from the side and back, not the front. Another "stripper" is shown with pasties so large that they cover her entire breasts.
  • It's implied that a man and a woman sleep together.
  • Some early scenes take place at a brothel. No sex or nudity is shown.
  • A woman does a strip tease as part of a vaudeville routine, eventually wearing lingerie.

  • Some social drinking, although not as a prominent part of the plot and generally not to intoxication.
  • In one scene a character is shown hungover.
  • In another scene a character pretends to be highly drunk on gin.
  • Some smoking in the movie, although generally in the background.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A male character is shot in the street abruptly.
  • There is an intense sequence at the end after two men appear to be shot.

Violence & Gore

  • Near the beginning of the film, a black man has a bloody leg in an alley way. It turns out to be a con with Johnny Hooker for another mans gambling winnings/take from a gambling ring.
  • In the climax of the film two men appear to be shot, with some blood appearing on their faces. In reality they are faking it and get up a minute or two later.
