Sex & Nudity

  • Very rare scenes of brief nudity.
  • Some scenes imply characters have had or will have sex (like in James Bond films). Also some mild innuendo and sex references.

Violence & Gore

  • Every episode usually features shootouts and fistfights. Bloody bullet wounds are showed although martial arts, strangulation, asphyxiation are regularly seen. Many episodes feature car chases and foot chases.
  • One episode opens with a police officer being shot in the face at point blank range with a shotgun.
  • A couple of episodes feature characters being murdered by being thrown out of a high window.
  • In one episode (Klansmen), a main character is stabbed in the back, although he recovers. In another episode (Discovered in a Graveyard), a main character is shot twice at point blank range and his recovery is a major part of the episode.
  • The violence is quite strong for a 1970s/80s series. As a comparison, its generally more violent than 'The Sweeney' (1975-78).

Profanity

  • Occasional uses of 'Bloody'
  • 'Crap' and 'Ass' are said a small number of times.
  • Overall, less profanity than in 'The Sweeney' series.
  • Infrequent uses of "For God's sake"
  • 'Bastard' is used sometimes, and 'Shit' rarely. A few uses of words 'Hell' 'Damn' 'Jesus' 'God' etc.
  • One episode (Klansmen) features extensive use of racial terms like 'spade' and features a racist organisation, but is part of the plot rather than a general attitude.
  • Some politically incorrect jokes throughout the series which today could be seen as sexist or mildly racist.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Most episodes feature drinking and smoking, but it's a reflection of the time in which the series was made.
  • A couple of episodes feature drinking and driving, and the effects of a night's drinking (hangovers etc).
  • Some episodes have a drugs related plot. In one episode a main character is seen smoking cannabis as part of an undercover operation.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The series is staged as an action thriller, and so many episodes have suspenseful scenes and tense moments, but nothing too frightening.
  • The Klansmen episode may be uncomfortable for some viewers, due to it's racial subject.
  • The Discovered in a Graveyard episode may be quite intense for younger viewers and some scenes could be upsetting for people of a sensitive disposition.
  • In one episode a body is found to be hanging (mostly implied) which could be upsetting for some viewers.
