[Howard Hughes has called a press conference via telephone]
McKenna : Now, this is for the record, your honest opinion: was that Howard Hughes you were talking to?
Wayne Thomas as himself : I have no doubt at all, we've been speaking with Howard Hughes.
McKenna : Gene Handsaker.
Gene Handsaker as himself : I agree.
McKenna : Vernon Scott.
Vernon Scott : I think so, too.
McKenna : Marvin Miles.
Marvin G Miles as himself : Undoubtedly.
McKenna : Jim Bacon?
James Bacon as himself : I always used to boast that I saw too much of Howard Hughes, and I'm thoroughly convinced.

Wayne Thomas as himself : [During the conference call] Wayne Thomas, Mr. Hughes. What's your personal reaction to these recent absurd descriptions of your physical appearance?
Howard Hughes : Oh, ye-you mean the - the 97 pounds, waist-length beard and so forth?
Wayne Thomas : Yeah, that's it exactly, and the artists' conceptions and the business about the long fingernails and long toenails, and how in the world would you ever sign a check?
Howard Hughes : Oh well this - this is very amusing, because, uh, I had the same reaction, that was the uh, it was the first means of disproving it that came to my mind as well. It's pretty good proof that I don't have long fingernails, and how the hell can I write mah name if I have fingernails eight inches long? And toenails eight inches long, couldn't walk!
