This article contains spoilers for "Star Wars: The Bad Batch" season 3, episode 13, "Into the Breach."
From the very beginning, "Star Wars" has been a smorgasbord of film influences and references. George Lucas cited John Ford and Akira Kurosawa films as chief inspirations for "A New Hope." In fact, here at /Film (and StarWars.com before that), I've written hundreds of articles about the cinematic influences behind "Star Wars."
The latest episode of "The Bad Batch" is no exception. As the Bad Batch further pursues a path to the secret Imperial science facility on Mount Tantiss where Omega is being held, they lead a daring mission to an orbital platform at Coruscant to get the coordinates and affect their rescue. Meanwhile, Omega is held inside a child prison with other gifted kids who are being experimented on. Be that as it may, she knows her brothers are coming for her, and...

The upcoming Star Wars series The Acolyte promises plenty of martial-arts-inspired action and a climactic lightsaber battle. The makers of the show recently mentioned that the team aimed to compete with Darth Maul’s legendary battle with Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon Jinn in Episode I: The Phantom Menace, and called it the best lightsaber battle in Star Wars history.
But is it? The franchise has seen numerous lightsaber battles across media, with fan getting their first taste of the trope in Star Wars: A New Hope. While the original trilogy is still considered to be the best of the films released to date, the lightsaber battles seem to have improved since then. The prequel trilogy’s climactic showdown between Obi-Wan and Anakin Skywalker definitely has a higher ground in the category.

More video game leaks have made their way to Twitter. We learned about the X-men ’97 Dlc for Rocket League earlier this month. This time, we’ve learned that Fortnite is looking to expand its already sweet lineup of Star Wars skins and items!
Disney’s new stake in Epic Games will hopefully mean more frequent additions to the popular battle royale title. If the leaks from Hypex are to be believed, those add-ons are right around the corner!

After being posted on X and becoming a feature on Stephen Colbert’s Late Show, the 2003 commercial that sees Obi-Wan Kenobi hand Luke Skywalker a cold beer has gone viral
‘Your father wanted you to have this when you were old enough”, Obi-Wan Kenobi tells a wide-eyed Luke Skywalker in the 1977 Star Wars film, A New Hope. Obi-Wan moves to fetch the precious item – an ice-cold bottle of Chilean lager, Cerveza Cristal.

Before Disney extended their business with the Star Wars franchise, the studio had an expensive bet against George Lucas’ Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope— a space adventure that took Hollywood by storm. It was one of the greatest hits of the time, which prompted several studios to have their pie in the game.

For Starwoids, the scene is immutable gospel: Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) is taken by the old sage Obi-Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness) into a rundown, sleazy cantina in the city of Mos Eisley on the planet Tatooine. They know they can find an off-the-books pilot-for-hire there, hoping to deliver an important message to a distant world, a message that could conceivably take down the entire evil Empire that rules the galaxy. Scanning the room, Luke and Obi-Wan find Han Solo (Harrison Ford), a ne'er-do-well smuggler who is in debt to the mob, but claims to have the fastest starship in the galaxy.
Luke is out of his element in the cantina. He's young and inexperienced in the realm of vice and crime. Obi-wan famously described the cantina as a hive of scum and villainy. Because Han was in his element in this bar, he was most assuredly a scummy villain. It...

Star Wars is one of the biggest franchises of all time, and it helped launch the career of one of its protagonists, Harrison Ford. Given the massive success of the film and its sequels in the years that followed, it established the Han Solo actor as a leading actor in Hollywood.
The space opera managed to catch the fancy of millions around the world, and its popularity has not waned at all. It proved to be a turning point in Ford’s life, as he was a struggling actor at the time. And now, nearly five decades later, a draft of A New Hope that the actor left in his rented apartment, was just off for an eye-watering amount.

This article contains spoilers for "Star Wars: The Bad Batch" season 3, episode 10, "Identity Crisis."
After last week's episode of "Star Wars: The Bad Batch" saw Asajj Ventress return from the grave, the show took a pivot this week. Instead of visiting Clone Force 99 at all, "Identity Crisis" takes us back to Mount Tantiss and focuses on Emerie Karr.
Karr, who's voiced by "Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith" alum Keisha Castle-Hughes, is another female clone of Jango Fett, albeit much older than Omega. Introduced in previous seasons of "The Bad Batch," she's thus far been part of the crew on Mount Tantiss working alongside Dr. Hemlock on Operation Necromancer. She was also the one who gave Omega back her makeshift Lula doll at the beginning of season 3, sowing seeds that are paid off in this episode. The "Identity Crisis" the episode's title refers to is Emerie's, as...

Star Wars has several projects in the works right now. There’s Mangold’s new Star Wars movie set way back in the past, and Waititi’s secret project, which he hinted might upset some fans. Also, there’s a movie in the works about Rey rebuilding the Jedi order 15 years into the future.

Star Wars has quite a list of projects in the works currently, from Mangold’s new Star Wars film that takes place thousands of years in the past to Waititi’s undisclosed project that he claimed “will piss off the fans.’ There’s also a new movie focusing on Rey’s restoration of the Jedi order 15 years in the future, which won’t, according to the rumors, lead to a new trilogy but will rather be a standalone movie. Additionally, Filoni is actively working on the development of ‘Ahsoka’ Season 2, among other upcoming projects.
In this sea of upcoming projects, fans were consistently asking about ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ season 2. Ewan McGregor shed some light on the potential future of the series during his LADBible interview:

No one ever really leaves the galaxy far, far away. Liam Neeson’s Qui-Gon Jinn was the first character (chronologically) to master the art of a spiritual return from the grave (a spectacle known to fans as becoming a “Force ghost”) and the estate of Peter Cushing was the first to allow his character, Grand Moff Tarkin, to reappear thanks to creepy computer imaging in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” So, between the two, you can rest assured that as long as there will never be star peace, we’ll see Ewen McGregor back as Obi-Wan Kenobi is some kind of “Star Wars” project.

The 1950s saw a boom of science fiction stories focused on the concept of psionics. Authors took nascent studies of the brain and its potential to wild places, exploring what could happen if humanity was able to use 100% of our brain capacity and gained superpowers. Everyone from Frank Herbert to Isaac Asimov, James Blish, and many more tapped into this concept.
When it came time for George Lucas to pivot away from doing a "Flash Gordon" movie and instead come up with his own fictional universe with enough worldbuilding to sustain a prequel trilogy, he developed his own version of psionics and combined it with elements of several world religions. The result was the Jedi and the concept of The Force, which are integral to the "Star Wars" universe and the success of its films. These movies gave audiences a unique yet also familiar imagery of samurai wizard monks. The Jedi were instantly memorable,...

George Lucas' "Star Wars: Episode IV -- A New Hope" is a structurally immaculate screenplay. You simply can't tell a sweeping intergalactic adventure -- or, really, any kind of story -- more thrillingly or efficiently. Beat for beat, it's considered the blockbuster narrative gold standard for a reason.
If, however, you're looking for a fantasy epic with dialogue that bounds off the page, might I recommend "Star Wars: Episode V -- The Empire Strikes Back"?
There is a certain genius to the specificity of Lucas' dialogue in the first movie. Characters drop references to Tosche Station, the Kessel Run, and the binary language of moisture vaporators like they're a part of everyday speech -- and fans have seen this movie so many times that these references are now a part of their everyday speech.

If you like lifting heavy things, Beyblades and crying while laughing, you’ll absolutely love Bilmuri. The band, which is the brainchild of Johnny Franck (formerly of Attack Attack!), has music that is second only to their presence on social media and their fan base known as the incredible “Muri Naysh.” As you might imagine for someone with such a creative approach to art, Franck is heavily inspired by anime. However, the creative spark he gets from the medium is unique, stemming less from the specific content and more from the overall “packaging” of each episode. Hear from the man himself below to learn more about how the craftsmanship of anime broadened his musical horizons. Johnny, how are you? How's everything going? Franck: I'm doing great. We just got out of the studio like 30 minutes ago. That’s my favorite place to be in the world. We've been writing for about two years straight now.

A theory about Baby Yoda suggests a potentially heartbreaking destiny for him ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Grogu’s surprising introduction in The Mandalorian, commonly known as Baby Yoda, took fans by storm. His mysterious origins and significance have continued to intrigue Star Wars enthusiasts throughout the show’s two seasons. As viewers explore Grogu’s backstory further, they speculate about his role in both the series’ storyline and the broader Star Wars universe. A fan theory from Reddit suggests that Grogu, also known as “The Child,” is part of a longstanding cycle where a child grows up to save the Chosen One from falling into darkness.
Speculation arises from the saviour cycle theory, suggesting that Ahsoka Tano could have trained Grogu to eventually mentor a new Chosen One in a later phase of the Star Wars timeline, especially considering her appearance in The Mandalorian’s second season. This theory implies that...

She died Wednesday in Pacific Palisades, Calif., according to her friend and mentee Ilene Starger.

There are plenty of iconic characters, vehicles, weapons, and more from "Star Wars" that fans have latched onto over the years. But since the loyal followers of a galaxy far, far away can be a weird bunch, even going so far as to remaster the original cuts of the movies themselves, they also become obsessed with a lot of small details in the sci-fi universe.
Case in point, blue milk is well known among "Star Wars" fans, despite only making a brief appearance at Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru's kitchen table in "A New Hope," while Luke Skywalker pines about being stuck on Tatooine. The blue milk, which was agonizing to create for production, is so famous that Star Wars Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland and Disney World actually have it available to buy, along with the green milk that older Luke Skywalker disturbingly sips down in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Photo credit: “Shutterstock.AI” In hindsight, it seems almost crazy to think that the Star Wars team could have been expecting anything less than a blockbuster box office performance. But, then again, back in 1977, they also didn’t realize that they were changing cinema forever. Writer/director George Lucas felt like he’d made a good film, and he hoped for the best, but — at the time, at least — he had no idea whether the public would have an appetite for the kind of science fiction epic he’d created. And, Lucas admitted, he was a little bit shocked when the original movie (now retitled Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope) quickly became a phenomenon. 15 years ago, on March 20, 2009, "Battlestar Galactica" concluded its run with the series finale "Daybreak," and man, what a frakkin' good show that was. A reboot of a short-lived 1970s series, "Battlestar Galactica" follows a starship fleet searching for the fabled planet Earth after humanity's home, the 12 Colonies of Man, are destroyed by their robotic creations, the Cylon. I was a little too young to watch "Galactica" weekly on its first airing, but thanks to the magic of Netflix, I downed the whole thing the summer before I entered high school.
It was the first show of that length that I watched from beginning to end. I love "Star Trek," but I'll always appreciate "Battlestar" for going further than even the Final Frontier dared push. "Battlestar" co-creator Ronald D. Moore got his start in TV writing on "Star Trek" and set out to make...

Leslye Headland’s The Acolyte series will explore an unexplored area of the Star Wars universe. The Disney+ show is very different from the other Star Wars projects and is even set 100 years before the events of The Prequel Trilogy. Interestingly, Headland intentionally hired a writer in the room who was not a Star Wars fan to have different perspectives on the show.

Recently after The Acolyte trailer was released, the fandom has seen a buzz surrounding the Star Wars mystery-thriller special. The show, set in the final days of the High Republic era, focuses on a Jedi master’s investigation of a series of murders across the galaxy by a dangerous assassin.
Why did Leslye Headland want a non-Star Wars fan on The Acolyte production?

We finally have our first look at The Acolyte, the new Star Wars series set to hit Disney+ this summer. Created by showrunner Leslye Headland (Russian Doll), the show is set before any of the Skywalker Saga movies and is a murder mystery, a first for this franchise. As you’ll see from the trailer and this breakdown, the series is a lot darker than any of the other shows that Disney has produced so far. It makes a bit of sense since this series happens to be all about the Sith…
Before we jump in and dissect The Acolyte‘s first trailer, give the video a watch below if you haven’t already.
Okay, now let’s have a look at what this trailer tells us about the story and its ensemble cast of characters…

There’s a disturbance in the force, and George Lucas wants to help correct the problem.
The Star Wars and Indiana Jones filmmaker is weighing in on The Walt Disney Company’s ongoing proxy fight with activist investors, and he is throwing his support firmly behind CEO Bob Iger and Disney’s board.
“Creating magic is not for amateurs. When I sold Lucasfilm just over a decade ago, I was delighted to become a Disney shareholder because of my long-time admiration for its iconic brand and Bob Iger’s leadership,” Lucas said in a statement Tuesday. “When Bob recently returned to the company during a difficult time, I was relieved. No one knows Disney better. I remain a significant shareholder because I have full faith and confidence in the power of Disney and Bob’s track record of driving long-term value. Heed my warning: never ask a "Star Wars" animation fan if you should watch shows like "The Clone Wars" and "Star Wars Rebels" unless you're prepared to get your ear talked off. For all of the franchise's high points in live-action, something about animation just fits a galaxy far, far away smoother than Lando Calrissian playing a game of Sabacc. Animated "Star Wars" projects are able to go weirder and wilder, bringing bizarre non-humans to life in a convincing way that's hard to translate into the real world. It's why I'm relieved that "Rebels" co-creator and current Lucasfilm Chief Creative Officer Dave Filoni has so far allowed the Bendu to remain purely in the animated realm.
The Bendu, for those who are not familiar, looks a little like a cross between a buffalo, a rock monolith, and Gimli from "The Lord of the Rings." This enigmatic, giant entity -- who's...

Christopher Walken can currently be seen as the Emperor of the Known Universe in "Dune: Part Two," but once upon a time in a galaxy far, far away, the quirky actor had a chance to appear in another huge sci-fi epic. As Walken himself recently told Vanity Fair, he auditioned for the role of Han Solo in the first "Star Wars" film, aka "Star Wars: A New Hope." Of course, Walken didn't get the part — and it's hard to imagine anyone other than Harrison Ford playing the loveable rogue.
To hear Walken tell it, he auditioned for the part along with a wealth of other actors, so it's not clear how close he came to actually landing the role of Han Solo. In other words, lots of people were being considered for the film, and Walken was just one name of many on a list of auditioning actors. But interestingly enough,...

If the original "Star Wars" established Darth Vader as one of the most fearsome and instantly iconic villains of all time, then "The Empire Strikes Back" was the one tasked with showing us why he was worthy to continue wearing that crown moving forward -- and that wouldn't have been possible without one hapless supporting character who, despite a minimum of screen time, ended up taking on a life of his own among the passionate fanbase.

This article contains spoilers for "Star Wars: The Bad Batch" season 3, episode 6 and episode 7, "Infiltration" and "Extraction."
We got two brand new episodes of "Star Wars: The Bad Batch" this week, and they offered us some of the most dire situations Clone Force 99 has been in, forcing us to wonder how many "Batchers" are going to make it through this third and final season. They only get through "Infiltration" and "Extraction" by the skin of their teeth, but it's worth remembering that we haven't seen any hint of them in the future of the "Star Wars" galaxy. That's not to say they can't make it through; Ahsoka Tano and most of the crew from "Star Wars Rebels" certainly proved that a wide array of characters can remain off-screen for important events and have a compelling story to tell once they re-enter the universe. For over 30 years, Mark Hamill voiced DC’s Clown Prince of Crime in varied endeavors, starting from the very beloved Batman: The Animated Series. Although the likelihood of the Star Wars actor ever returning to the role is minimal in light of Kevin Conroy’s passing, there’s one person to thank behind his iteration of the Batman arch-nemesis coming into existence in the first place.
And funnily enough, it almost seems fateful that it was none other than Michael Keaton, one of the actors who embodied The Caped Crusader in live-action films, albeit to initial flak.

2024 is bound to be a year of change, at least as far as Disney goes. After several big-budget MCU productions failed in 2023 and were met with a lukewarm reception, Bob Iger himself stated that they will definitely focus on quality over quantity in the future and will scale down their content production. We also know that there are over 20 MCU projects in development or rumored to be in development, and the Star Wars universe also has a full slate of upcoming shows & movies, most of them announced during the 2023 Star Wars Celebration event. Now in recent news, Disney+ confirmed several of those upcoming projects, and most of them are scheduled to be released in 2024 let’s see what they are:

Ewan McGregor shed some light on the potential future of the series during his The Tonight Show appearance with his wife, Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
For me, I have no news to tell, I’m waiting for the call. I don’t know if its happening.

Game of Thrones undeniably stands as one of the most influential shows in television history, leaving a lasting impact across various mediums. More than four years after its conclusion, the series remains a significant topic of discussion, though not always for the best reasons. Interestingly enough, one massive mistake by George Lucas might have made Star Wars just like Game of Thrones.

The success of Game of Thrones was rooted in its ability to craft a compelling narrative alongside exceptional world-building, providing fans with something to anticipate for over eight years. Regrettably, the series concluded in a manner widely deemed as one of the worst endings to a show, particularly the final episode of Season 8. This ending significantly impacted the overall excitement and reception the series had garnered, marking a disappointing conclusion for many fans.

Star Wars‘ is truly trailblazing in visual sense, but John Williams’ music for Episode IV: A New Hope marked the beginning of something fresh. The legendary composer has created music for the adventures of dinosaur-filled islands (Jurassic Park), the intense realities of war (Saving Private Ryan), and the magical realms of wizards (Harry Potter) but nothing compares to his music for epic space battles (Star Wars).
Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Peter Mayhew, and Derek Lyons in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope
Williams was requested to compose music for a film that would forever alter the landscape of filmmaking. The skilled composer matched director George Lucas’ vision with an opening theme that perfectly set the tone, grabbing viewers’ attention right from the start. But he would have almost made the same mistake as many Star Wars fans in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.

Star Wars fans were exposed to a whole new side of the franchise when a viral video of a Chilean broadcast integrated with commercials made the rounds on social media. The user who posted it on X (formerly Twitter) mentioned that the original Star Wars trilogy was aired in Chile in the early 2000s for the first time and there was a weird product integration in the broadcast.
The broadcast was reportedly integrated with commercials for the Chilean beer company Cerveza Cristal. Instead of the traditional method of cutting to commercials in the middle of airing, the channel reportedly cut the commercials within the film, showing the beer at pivotal points. The video sparked a trend of integrating the commercial into various other films.
